Hey, guys. I just stumbled upon you and listened to that hour long discussion for ep 2x04. It was really great and entertaining. Listened to this immediate reaction one too. Anyway, Henry James' The Turn of the Screw, the copy from the episode "Orientation," interesting fact about it: the Dover edition--the same one in the episode--was first published in 1991. I have the exact same copy. So unless the script manager or prop department did poorly with continuity, then this something inside this hatch is no older than from 1991.

The show makes me wonder about the timeline it exists in, as well, and I even read an interview with one of the creators or producers (wish I had a link but I wouldn't remember where it is now) in which he clearly stated that the show is very conscious about being vague about when exactly it is taking place. Which leads one to wonder just what year it is. I think people are assuming that Flight 815 took off in 2004, but there is nothing really indicative to support that belief. How this plays into the overall scheme of things is a mystery to me...but hey, what on the show isn't? Well, I'm not one of those fans who comes up with theories really but I wanted to leave a comment and hopefully provide you with something you may not have known. Especially considering you have 3 weeks of podcasts to do without a new ep to discuss.

Later. And take care.

During the off-time, y'all should do a clip show!

Just like the big networks.

I have a pet theory about Mr. Eko.

I think that we're going to find that Mr. Eko is a vet of one of Africa's many civil wars. Could explain why he knows his way around a jungle so well and is handy in a fight. I have also heard it mentioned that he has a haunting back story. The way he takes order from Ana makes me think that he might have been the reluctant muscle, or feild comammander for some central African strong man. He might, like Sayid, end up being a good man that in his past was forced to do some evil things in the name of duty.

This would still work even if he ends up being from the drug plane. The only problem I have with the drug plane theory is that the palne seems to be close to the fuselage folk. How did he get to the other side of the Island?

But if he is from the drug plane he's going to know exactly what's up ith Charlie's statue.

Give me a shot as a guest during the 3 week break. I would love to play on the general theories cast.

I can do things! I'm smart! Not dumb like people think!

Googling Eko I came across this from Wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagos

Certainly lends credence to the thoery he is from the Nigerian drug plane given the origin of his name.

Also, when he was asked if he had a wife, Eko's response was "worse," and I assumed it to mean he had more than one wife. Polygamy is common in Nigeria.

It was kind of a new change to see Sun get upset and mad about losing the egagement ring. She was pulling out her plants and what have you.

I was tryin' keep up with subtitles and understand what was going on.

because I don't always pay attention to detail I like listening to this podcast or I don't REMEMBER the details of the episode.
