One thing I forgot to add to my reaction regarding the TailEnders. They could've been forced to resort to cannibalism in order to stay alive. Also, this could be perceived as a 'sickness' by others, aka Rousseau. Maybe Rousseau's crew tried to eat her and then she's all, 'Nuh uh biatch' and busted a cap in all dem honky's.

of course i have been drinking.

Josh

also, quit doggin' on my audio quality. My setup was built for a one man show! I ain't runnin WKRP up in herrr!

if you all need a free voice mail that will send you a .wav go to www.k7.net

First, like the instant reactions. Get the rockstar mic in the mix and your money.

Here are a couple of my instant reactions:

It looked to me like the Tailenders hatch had been abandond while under construction. It looked like it was just hollowed out earth with a few steel supports. No groovy hatchellor pad appointments, or damaged remanents there of. Maybe the Dharma Initiative wasn't very far off the ground when the "incident" occured. Maybe that means that there aren't 4 more stations on the island. Maybe the "incident" disrupted their contruction.

I think Ana Lucia is ex-military. She's too good at giving orders. If I'm right it should make it interesting when the tribes merge. She might have capped some of Sayid's buddies in her day. Or maybe she is a CIA agent that was keeping tabs on him.

I can see why Hurley was in a crazy house. Everyone is going to hate me for controlling the food. Hey I know. I'll blow it up! Craaazy.

Loved the juxtaposition of the writers comparing winning the lotto to hitting the food lotto. Nice statment about human nature. Somtimes I think we get so caught up in the mystery of what's going on we forget just how good the writting is on this show.

Was that Walt on the back of the milk carton in Hurley's dream? Is the Waltster using his powers to try and communicate with Hurley? After all, Hurley doesn't know he is missing.

Cannibalisim is a possibility. But Adabisi and Ana look like they are resourceful enough to gather some grub. I'm betting their condition has more to do with the Others.

Rose & Bernard? Black & White? Darkness & Light? Coincedence?

That's all for now. Keep casting.

Brian

Hurley's boss at Mr. Clucks was Randy. Locke's boss at the box company was also a Randy. Checked tv.com and it was the same actor - just no goatee and short hair.

Another connection. Pretty sure that the box company becomes an asset to Hurley after he wins the lotto as well. So Hurley's former boss becomes his lowly employee.

And I saw a clear cap of the new Dharma logo - it appears to be an arrow in the middle. A swan, and an arrow. Reminds of either constellations or Greek Mythology. Hmm... Apollo candy bars.

Like the first reactions; it's tough, though, really need to digest a show like this.

Hi guys,

I missed the first lostcast, so if this has been brought up already, I apologize. Have you seen this site?
http://www.driveshaftband.com/flight815_5.htm

What strikes me as curious is not the dollar amount of the settlement, but the fact that it states (perhaps not in the article but on the Driveshaft homepage) that it's been "little over a year" since Flight 815 went down.

I think this can be interpreted many ways, but it seems to lend credence to the guy on your podcast who wants there to be a Philadelphia Experiment connection! Maybe there's a time warp involved or something. Maybe the article takes place "now" and the show is going to catch up at some point. Or maybe the author of the website made a mistake. It's best not to overlook anything when dealing with a show like this.

Great job on last week's podcast - looking forward to Friday's.

Hey Guys ...me again ...Loved the last podcast, keep 'em coming and I don't mind if they go on long ...hell that's more commentary to dissect this mystery.
First off I was thinking the same thing as Matt (Post a few above by matt) that Bernard and Rose, Black and White, Backgammon hmmm?
Secondly, Matt also said that he thought this hatch was still under construction BUT I thought it looked more like an animal holding pen/stable area ...could this be the zoology section of the Compound? that was my initial reaction but I have to go back and watch it again.

i'm searching dharma symbols now -
i found a cross-looking one here: 5th pic down

http://buddhism.kalachakranet.org/general_symbols_buddhism.html

scroll down - says:
The Lion is one of Buddhism's most potent symbols. Traditionally, the lion is associated with regality, strength and power. It is therefore an appropriate symbol for the Buddha who tradition has it was a royal prince. The Buddha's teachings are sometimes referred to as the 'Lion's Roar', again indicative of their strength and power.

The image on the left shows a capital from a pillar of Asoka: the Lions of Sarnath. Sarnath is where the Buddha first preached, and these lions echo his teachings to the four quarters of the world, sometimes called 'the Lion's Roar'. The wheel symbolizes Buddhist law and also Asoka's legitimacy as an enlightened ruler.

now, the next question.....which project was this station?!

that's all I have to throw at you guys for now ...Love the podcasts, love the commentary and keep it up guys or should I say "Lift it up Brutha's"

Watched "Hugo" on HDTV, then watched it again on TIVO. Why doesn't ABC run LOST letterboxed. When Ana Lucia enters the tailenders' lair, there is a large Dharma logo on the rght wall that completely disappears on standard broadcast.

Brian

I think this is the logo that gets cut off, but you can see it clearly on HD.

Hey guys. I just wanted to tell you that I love listening to your Podcast!!! I'm new to all this stuff. I just recently found out that there was more to this show than it just being a show. I love mysteries so I'm all for it ;) I'm now a Lost addict!! Anyway, keep up the great podcasts, can't wait for Friday. Keep us thinking!!

Hatchelor#1

I have enjoyed your previous podcasts very much (very thought provoking and insightful), but this 9 minute initial reaction to last night's episode really didn't yet contain any "podcast worthy" comments or insight. Perhaps waiting until Friday is a better plan...? It has worked well for you so far!

blinder

Hey Hatchelor#1. Thanks for the honesty and I can see your point. We generally each put in at least 2-5 hours of planning into the regular end of week podcast and, of course, the planning for last night's "initial reactions" podcast involved mostly beer and food. So know your comment is well recieved and we promise this Friday we'll be extra tight to make up for the slouching un-"podcast-worthy" effort.

Hatchelor#1

Hey, blinder, thanks for taking the comment as it was intended. I have a question/observation. It is pretty incredible that so many could've survived such a crash in the first place, right? We have now seen at least two major commonalities in various characters flashbacks: 1) the same conference room used for attorney related flashbacks of both Michael and Claire, who were supposedly in different countries for each of those unrelated events. 2) we have also seen the same boss, Randy, in two separate characters' flashbacks, who also resided in two different locations. What if these flashbacks are implanted memories, not real memories at all? JJ likes that kind of stuff, right? Is it possible they've always been on this island, and all of the memories are fake, and our seeing the same room and the same boss are our first peek through into that secret?

matt

To build on Hatchelor#1's point. I've seen some speculation that Dr. Marvin Kandel looks similar to the Dr in the institution where Hurley went to talk to Lenny.

I hope the implanted memory theory isn't true. That's lazy story telling of the it was all Bobby Ewing's dream order. There is something much more compelling about these people being thrust into these bizarre circumstances that they must learn to overcome. I won't mind if they all have unknown connections that existed before they arrived on the island. But a Total Recall moment would piss me off.

matt

Robert brought this idea up in a conversation. I thought I would run with it.

I What if Adam & Eve from the cave are the DeGroots. Think about it. They are the man and woman that started it all. They were on a search for knowledge. That search unleashed evil in paradise. Now everyone must pay for their sins.

If you follow this logic I think that Alvar Hanzo was the snake in the garden. The DeGroots probably started with pure intentions, but once they ate of the forbidden fruit, received funding from an arms dealer, they lost control of their experiments.

The Others are the children of the DeGroots/Adam & Eve. Not litteral children, but the products of their experiments. The ones that took Walt and terrorize the Lostaways are the Kanes. Which would suggest that there are good and helpful children, which we have not met. The Ables if you will. Unless the Kanes have murdered them all.

I’m not saying that the whole show is a biblical allegory, just that they could be playing with some of the oldest themes known to humans.

cr8tive

I haven't seen information on this in any of the other forums.

Was Rose humming "My Conversation" before we heard the song play when Hurley was in the Hatch? It seems like more than a coincidence to me.

queegePlecy

OK, let me repeat that… I really like your attentions to my big debate Oh, good joke) Homeowner: My house is located in an earthquake zone. Agent: Sorry, but I can't help you. I only sell no-fault insurance!
