I have a theory of who dies next. Sun dies next, but not on the island. Sayid must kill her, or kills her by accident. She has the baby in the in America. Maybe she has another title or mysterious name and is on ben's list. In order for the others to be protected. Maybe it was an accident like when michael shot libby after shooting anna lucia on purpose. Sayid has to kill her father and sun dies as well.

Ok, I have a thought that I haven't heard anyone else mention. Do you think there is a connection between what is happenning with Desmond and "the sickness" that Rouseau was talking about (when she had to kill her shipmates)? Maybe the shot they took in the hatch is like what the Doc was giving on the freighter.
Either way, looking at how 'mad' Desmond was acting I could see this magnetism-induced-sickness being the same as the one Rouseau was talking about.

Johann is right...This is an audio podcast, not a video one. I don't care WHAT she looks like, she sounds like fingernails on a chalk board. Tasha's zero to 88db cackle and insipid comments about any subject (including this week--Ugly Betty) make the podcast virtually un-listenable. Matt, PLEASE DO NOT MISS ANOTHER PODCAST if Tasha will appear again.

I'm going to give this podcast a miss due to Tasha being included. I hate to have to miss it because it was such an awesome episode and I want to hear your speculation, but Tasha makes them unlistenable. I know there are some people that like her, and it isn't something personal, but I know several other people that will give this a miss for the exact same reason.

Guys, I love the podcast, but you have to get rid of Tasha! I'm a season behind on Ugly Betty and without warning had a HUGE plot point just completely spoiled for me. I've done everything to avoid hearing about this season, and then BAM - just spoiled. That HAS to violate some kind of podcasting code or something - whether you like the show or not, it's NOT cool to spoil something else like that with no warning! Please get rid of Tasha or edit the show better - I listen to you guys every week and would hate to have to stop because of things like that!

Please Tasha, stay off the podcast! That annoying laugh is not only loud it is also every 5 seconds or so. Do us all a favor and download this podcast and listen to yourself from start to finish. You'll quickly realize what many people are complaining about.
It's nothing personal, just consider it for the sake of the fan base that loves this podcast but HATES your voice. I know that I'll probably get flamed by all you Tasha-lovers out there, but I had to add my two cents.

Okay, so since we apparently don't talk about lost here any more and just troll and rant about our hosts, this will probably go unnoticed, but hey.
Just a quickie. In this podcast (and most other podcasts/discussions of this episode) we keep referring to 2004 Desmond travelling BACK to 1996, but i don't actually think that's the way the writers want us to think of this. According to Lindelloff and Cuse, they spent a heck of a lot of time in breaking this episode ensuring that they avoid paradox's (That is going to the past changing events we know have happened) and making sure that we don't enter the realm of possible multiple futures etc.
I think in viewing this episode we need to adopt a subtle shift in our understanding to really understand this episode. Perhaps a better way to think about this episode is like this...
It is not 2004 Des going back to 1996, but rather 1996 Des coming forward to 2004.
Let me put it another way. In this show we always come into it with an understanding of "real time" and "Flashbacks/Flashforwards". For the purposes of this episode, it is maybe more helpful to think of 1996 as "Real Time" and 2004 as a "flash forward" albeit one Desmond is fully aware of.
This may not seem like a big thing, but actually makes a huge difference, especially when it comes to ensuring changing the past doesn't change the future.
For example, if Desmond is going back to 1996, he does things which never happened before, which mean the present (on island time) is changed. EG, Prior to him "travelling back" Des and Dan had never met, but after travelling back they had. This changes everything, and creates a paradox, which the writers have fought so hard to avoid. When we see Daniel at the end finding the page about "Desmond Will be my constant" thing, that would be the very definition of a paradox.
On the other hand, if we think of it as Desmonds 1996 conscience travelling to his 2004 body, we have no such issues. This always happened. In 1996 he ALWAYS went to 2004. He always met with Daniel Faraday and always called Penny to ask her to take his call.
1996 Desmond would not have known all of the things that would happen to him between 1996 and 2004, as during this time he did not have memories of anything after 1996, so all he would have known is that at some point in 2004 he would be on a freighter, having been stranded on an island, and having seen Sayid.
The page in faradays diary had always been there, but because of his memory issues he didn't know to look for it till after the fact, and when he told Desmond what to tell him, he knew this because in 1996 he had written down something like "A Scottish man told me how to get the machine working, i need to use the following..." .
This of course causes it's own problems, like why Des would have still gone to the island, or where the information on how to get the machine working came about, or why Des didn't recognise people in the future (Sayid, Faraday) but most of this can be explained by some fairly simple explanations.
EG, If something inexplicable happens to you, you quickly rationalise it away. It would be logical that given a few weeks to slow down and think about it he would have put it aside as a crazy dream or stress from work (the army is a stressful job) coupled with loosing the love of his life. Memory is a strange thing, and by 2004 he could have forgotten or explained away to himself all of the events. Also, during the 3 years on the island he went through enough to completely mess him up, and was so focussed on saving the world that the only thing from his past life that he was worried about remembering was penny, and finally, it is possible that upon finding his constant, all of his "flash forwards" simply disappeared from his memory, the jolt of his consciousness being continually moved around in time gave him amnesia about what had just happened.
I realise this isn't a perfect explanation, but i mention it because i think it's the way the producers want us to think of this. They even alluded to it in the official podcast. They made some reference to "Travelling forward in time being harder for us to wrap our heads around than travelling backwards" in the same breath as them talking about how hard it had been for them to break the episode concepts.

I think that is great analysis... until I read your post, I thought that the "snap" occurs and '04 and '96 awarenesses swap places. Then, pretty quickly, they rejoin as one but ping-pong between then and now as Des tries to anchor himself in '04. I need to re-watch the episode from your POV... because I thought Des was comatose to Sayid when he was "in '96" but that the flashes from '96 to '04 were happening in an instant (hovering over a coin, taken a step on the stairs).

guys, did you forget why we all listen to this great LOSTCASTS show? Maybe because it´s dedicated to yet greater TV show that we all love and try to figure out? So let´s concentrate just a bit more on WHAT they are talking about than THE WAY HOW they talk.

I personally like Tasha BECAUSE she's annoying. Her giggling and pointless and not very well thought out comments make me laugh. "VINCENT IS IN JACOB'S PAINTING!" "I LOVE UGLY BETTY LOL!!"
But yeah, I can see why people hate that. She really doesn't add anything to the podcast. Not to sound sexist or anything. I listen to a couple podcasts where women add a lot to the discussion. Tasha doesn't. And I'm not saying she should try harder, she just doesn't seem to have the right mindset for in-depth LOST discussion. She seems to actually derail things sometimes. You don't seem to cover as much ground when she's on.
But whatever, I love what you guys do and will keep listening until the final LOSTCast. Especially for Matt Jones!

Okay, so I actually never wanted a forum, because I thought LOSTCASTS "reads the forums so you don't have to." I tend not to like forum structures, and I really like the stream of consciousness aspect of the comments section. I would really hate to see that go.
In regards to LOST, did anyone think that maybe Daniel has some sort of brain tumor? Daniel's reaction to Desmond about the radiation of his machine when he said "why don't you protect your head" was telling. Why would Daniel say "has your friend recently been affected by radiation OR electromagnetism?". This might be why he has memory issues.
Also, I agree with the idea that this time jumping is what Rousseau was talking with the sickness. Why wasn't Rousseau affected?

I realize it is probably annoying to many of you that the comments on this post have been off topic from Lost, but I think it says something about just how strongly people feel about Tasha. I'm pretty much indifferent about her myself and think the vulgarity is unnecessary but if that's the way people feel maybe a change should be made.
I have a couple requests while we're talking about it:
1. Please bring back Brian Linder. I've been a listener since the beginning and the podcast has never been the same since he left. I don't care what it takes, please get him back. I got a fever, and the only prescription is more Linder.
2. Somebody earlier mentioned that you should all sit the same distance from the microphone. I don't know about all that but I definitely agree that it's difficult to go from zero to bleeding ears within seconds. I'm not one of those people who expects a bunch of post-production but I know I for one would contribute a few bucks to help get you all your own mics. I doubt I'm alone on this. I don't think you should try to turn a profit because that puts you into a whole different world but taking donations to get some better equipment wouldn't be a bad idea.
