We'll be back this weekend, podcasting about last week's episode, as well as the first part of the season 4 finale of LOST that airs tonight, There's No Place Like Home, Part 1. Join us this weekend for the podcast by submitting your comments here, sending us an email, calling our automated audio comment voicemail at: 206-339-6080... or visit the LOSTCasts fan forums.
UPDATE: Last weekend it was my wisdom teeth, but this weekend we had some unexpected scheduling issues. It looks like we won't be podcasting again until the finale in two weeks. I apologize, the stars just haven't been aligned :)

first!

Wow, the Oceanic 6 are scattered on the island. I'm interested to see how this plays out. Hooray for Richard and The Others making a return. All those explosives on the freighter makes me think the thing attached to Keamy's arm is linked back to the ship. 2 weeks... I'm gonna go crazy.
Posted by: Paul | May 15, 2008 at 11:11 PM
Yup that's what I surmised. I was thinking the device must monitor his pulse and detonate the C4 if he gets killed. (Remember when the captain wanted to shoot him, "I wouldn't do that...") Also I agree with the idea that moving the island probably moves it through time. Aren't we supposed to see the "purple sky" this season? So purple sky over island would be a large scale version of Faraday's experiment, moves the island through time and viola, time discrepancy from the freighter!

DAMN, YOU PEOPLE ARE LAGGIN... I'm going to jay and jake now... I'm over you people, you answer phones, talk about things that you really dont know too much about.... have fun
Posted by: spalz | May 16, 2008 at 02:06 AM
Man, he'll be mad when he doesn't find a jay and jake podcast.
Posted by: Paul | May 16, 2008 at 02:14 AM
Ha, Jay and Jake what a maroon
Posted by: frankmorris | May 16, 2008 at 02:39 AM
I was expecting the media to ask who were the other two that survived the crash but died. It would have been funny if Jack said Scott and Steve.
Posted by: Paul | May 16, 2008 at 03:34 AM
Wow, Jay & Jake? Really? I am not a fan of their podcast. So since you have to wait two weeks for a Lostcast and two weeks for Lost, are you going to stop watching Lost now too?
Posted by: Tyler J | May 16, 2008 at 03:36 AM
I tried to listen to Jay and Jack. Not a fan. Have fun Spalz and don't forget to buy one of their T-Shirts.
Posted by: Doctor Manhattan | May 16, 2008 at 08:39 AM
i'm guessing that the other two who "died" on the island are going to be locke and sawyer.
Posted by: raj | May 16, 2008 at 09:48 AM
No, one of the two who "died" (as far as the media needs to know) will be Jin, because we see a very public tombstone in his honor in Sun's flash-forward a few weeks ago.
Oh, and extra special middle-finger salute to CTV here in Canada for a.) monopolizing the ABC broadcast so they could show their own commercials OVER the Detroit broadcast I PAY FOR from Rogers cable and b.) then regularly dropping the signal throughout the episode (including about 30 seconds of utter blank screen when Sayid reuinites with Nadia). Grrr...
Posted by: rok | May 16, 2008 at 10:39 AM
P.S. unless the circumstances around Jin's existence was covered when Sun spoke into the microphone, because, as I said a moment ago, CTV's broadcast decided to have a big digital fart and lose the audio and video right when she spoke.
Posted by: rok | May 16, 2008 at 10:41 AM
@kok - Jin is NOT one of the two-who-survived-then-died in the 06er's story: Sun stated at the press conference that Jin died in the crash. The date of death on his tombstone is the date of the crash.
Posted by: waterbaby | May 16, 2008 at 11:48 AM
@rok - Jin is NOT one of the two-who-survived-then-died in the 06er's story: Sun stated at the press conference that Jin died in the crash. Also, the date of death on his tombstone is the date of the crash.

LOL Jay and jack podcast is awful, their theory's are shit, they laugh all the time about nothing.
Posted by: pearson | May 16, 2008 at 03:39 PM
so it just so happens that 3 months in a typhoon happens to wash ashore a raft with food & basic supplies?! that's about as unbelievable a story as they could tell at the press conference
Posted by: scott in philly | May 16, 2008 at 05:47 PM
oh and yes... jay & jack suck ass. the LOSTcasts guys should move their female cohost over to that show
Posted by: scott in philly | May 16, 2008 at 05:50 PM
scott in philly
They could tell the real story, thats pretty unbelievable :)
Posted by: Frankmagnet | May 16, 2008 at 07:56 PM
yep jay and jack i tried for a while. they were so bad, that jack guy comes up with these bogus theories and despite being as dumb as ever he continues to bang on about them throughout the podcast. and just keeps raising these stupid rhetorical questions. yeah the female cohost is annoying "harharharrr!", especially when a song is made from her.
this episode of lost reminded me of season 1, in that it managed to leave a lump in my throat in parts. focused more on the characters than the situation - such as when desmond acknowledged faraday. and also why was sun staring at that door? jins clearly gonna blow up and michael will survive it as the island wants him to.
Posted by: bandro | May 16, 2008 at 08:09 PM
Why is everyone saying two died on the island (in the O6 story)? They clearly said that 8 made it off the plane to the island and that Aaron was born later so that means three died, not two. Not that we know who any of them are yet.
Posted by: Andy H | May 17, 2008 at 03:58 AM
Jay and Jack are so so, nothing special. I loved this podcast back when they talked about things and kept up with the show. It seems that this podcast is taking too long, and they dont care anymore. Could that be why they used to have 100s of comments after the show and now it averages around 30 or so?
Back to LOST
If the commando Keelie dies, the boat will blow up, simple as that. An old theory of mine was that there were 2 different groups of others, thats true now. And where are all the kids on the island? ? Remember back when they were stealing them, and the flight attendant that was watch Jack when he was looked up? Whats up with the Temple station and the people there? They just chillin there waiting for soemthing?
Posted by: JMoney | May 17, 2008 at 12:47 PM
Hey guys! I Hope you dooooo a looong podcast for the final of season 4. I think, the O6 are goint to be rescued, before Loce does move the Island.
So season 5 and 6 are going to be the "real-time" hunt for the magic island. And wtf is the story that the O6 are not allowed to talk about.

Anyone noticed the desperate housewives?
:D
Posted by: al | May 17, 2008 at 04:19 PM
I always assumed they said one of the people who "survived the plane crash but died on the island" was the marshall Kate was handcuffed to. That's gotta be standard operating procedure to be handcuffed together, unless there's a story next about how they had time to be unhandcuffed before the plane sank.
I was inordinately pleased to have a newsreporter question Kate on the timeline of her purported pregnancy, although anyone who saw Aaron would never, ever believe he was five weeks old. Five week old babies are blobs--even the cute ones. Five month old babies sparkle. Surely they had the baby looked at by a doctor after landing. Is there a doctor who was paid off somewhere and could expose them now? This is a storyline waiting to happen.
Posted by: KarenX | May 18, 2008 at 02:46 PM
thanks, @waterbaby for the correction. like i said, the signal took a nosedive right at several key moments.
just a thought: what happens to the other island in all of this? remember? the one with the hydra station? they never evacuated the whole other island, did they? like what about those other oceanic survivors who were still alive and talking to jack when he was in the cage?

pity about the podcast this week, just means we will get a quadruple sized one when you return! Would rather wait a month for you guys than listen to 'jay and jack' - seriously, does anyone still listen to that crap?

To connor,
Well according to iTunes Jay and Jack is the second most popular unofficial Lost podcast. I listen to their podcast but can agree that they can get kinda off topic every now and then but still I think it's informative enough for me to still listen to it.
But LOSTCasts is my favourite one, of course! :)
Posted by: Matt | May 18, 2008 at 05:51 PM
Of course they are popular on iTunes, they release podcasts ever week, even if they have no content (I stopped subscribing when they introduced 'Ramblecasts'), their numbers will always increase that way, Lostcasts only podcast when they have something to say.
Posted by: connor | May 18, 2008 at 06:57 PM
seriously, people slagging on Jay and Jack is ridiculous. who cares if youre a "Fan" or not? the fact that you think any podcast is going to give you some insight to solving the show is laughable enough but bashing other people who have fun entertaining you geeks is now part of some King of the Nerds campaign? "dont forget to buy one of their shirts", as if watching a Disney / ABC corporate comic book caliber written TV show isnt one million fold worse than getting a t-shirt from some small podcasters, dildong.
Jack should bodycheck your uncoordinated faces into the boards.

It's a shame that this podcast is succumbing to the inevitable podfade. It's the only show that really addresses Lost in a serious, intelligent manner. I'm sad to see you guys fade away. I guess we'll be left with those borderline retards, Jay and Jack and their inane recap shows. zzzzzzzzzzz
Posted by: alocke | May 18, 2008 at 07:12 PM
Shame about lack of a PC this week, no chance of one next weekend instead of waiting till the final?
Also. Did anyone else notice Michelle Forbes give someone a nod and a smile as she left the cockpit, someone whom wasn't sat with the 6. You briefly see them In the background when the plane lands as well. I know it could be nothing (just an escort), but it's kind of unusual that she acknowledged them in the first place in the camera shot.
Posted by: Kadayi | May 18, 2008 at 07:16 PM
This podcast is by far my favorite, and every week I look forward to hearing it. But it really sucks when things come up, and we don't get a podcast. That is one reason why I like to listen to Jay and Jack. Even though they may have nothing to say, I like to hear the comments from people who call in. I've been getting my LOST fix from them, since lostcasts hasn't had a new podcast in 2 weeks. And I was REALLY disappointed with the last podcast from lostcasts. I am VERY excited to hear what they have to say about the last 3 episodes! :) And hopefully it will be a little longer than 38 mins. ;)
Posted by: Anna | May 18, 2008 at 07:26 PM
You're fucking excuses are your own...what did you and Tasha have a fight because she kept wanting to blow Matt's tiny-weenie? Now the rest of us have to pay. Oh well, you guys started sucking a long time ago, so good riddance.
Fuck you.
Posted by: John | May 18, 2008 at 07:35 PM
The LOST INITIATIVE, the UK podcast is so much better than what Lostcasts has become anyways...it's funny and insightful.
Posted by: John | May 18, 2008 at 07:36 PM
Looked forward to your podcast guys. I understand when things get in the way. There a couple of people who posted in this thread who are way out of line.
Posted by: Jim | May 18, 2008 at 08:49 PM
LOSTCASTs has been my favorite because you guys actually analyze and dissect the events on the show. I love listening to your debates....its like i'm talking about the show with a friend. It is not mere summary......like the other ones. Tasha is cool even though she never has anything intelligent to contribute
Posted by: Tim | May 18, 2008 at 09:16 PM
The fact that I'm disappointed is just proof of how much I look forward to the Lostcasts each week. Please don't podfade !

Dear People who give me free content- How dare you not give me free content you spend your own time and money to create? It has been two weeks since you have invested hours in providing me with 60 minutes of listening time on my phone's mp3 player. How dare you have dental issues and computer issues? Jerks. signed, Some guy.
Seriously though, too bad you couldn't get one posted. Looking forward to the finale and your cast thereof!

Hurry back, we all miss you guys!
Posted by: Martin | May 19, 2008 at 12:56 AM
Guys, yeah I really want to hear your take on the last couple episodes, but will be here for sure when you can get one together. I've been a fan since you guys started doing this podcast. Keep up the good work.
You are one of my 5 favorite lost podcasts... yeah I listen to 5. You guys, Dharmalars, Jay and Jack, The Lost Initiative, and the Transmission. I used to love MYOKOMwSAS too, miss them. You guys and Tasha all do the best analytical take on the events of the episodes. You all seem to be smart and very well read, and I apreciate that kind of take. Many of the other podcasts are simply for more entertainment value. I feel like you guys give me a wider appreciation of what could be going on in the show.
I do hope that when you all do get back together to record one, you get everyone, and do a huge supersized episode. That will be worth the wait and shut up the winers who post above. If you can't, no worries, I'll love ya anyway.
Posted by: Scott Dickens | May 19, 2008 at 01:16 AM
yeah, well.. do you really have to wait 2 weeks, just like the show, to give us your thoughts?
that sure sucks - when the SHOW does stuff like that, it's a huge turnoff. I hope you don't think that your cast is so special that it can withstand such shoddy levels of attention. disappoint people enough and they'll stop coming back... .
you'd do well not to make us wait 2 weeks. it's true, we don't really deserve anything. but I was going to say, lame as being fans of a fan podcast may be, we deserve better than this, at least....
Posted by: Norman | May 19, 2008 at 01:44 AM
Sorry to hear you couldn't get a Podcast together this week guys, but as has been said above there are many of us out here who appreciate all that you do.
Come back soon !

Love the podcast guys but you're leaving me without my fix. By far the best Lost podcast excepting the 'primary source' podcast with Lindelof and Cuse. Guess I'll go let Jay and Jake tell me what I already know and listen to the Dharmalars not talk about Lost. Looking forward to your analyst of the past few episodes.
Posted by: Mark in PA | May 19, 2008 at 04:36 AM
Hi all I missed this episode and am desperate to see it! Can anyone tell me if it's possible to watch it online - desperate for help :)
Posted by: Miznina | May 19, 2008 at 06:24 AM
I'll be waiting patiently, as this podcast is not my life nor is it the life of the podcasters themselves
Good luck in getting things sorted
Posted by: Jon W | May 19, 2008 at 10:31 AM
I've been listening to this podcast since about half-way through season 2, and after trying several other Lost podcasts, I decided that this was the best one out there... That being said, i am a little annoyed to see two episodes go by with nothing at all. Ok, the wisdom teeth thing I totally understand, but we have two weeks till the finale! Why not podcast this upcoming weekend?
I've been having to listen to *shudder* Jay & Jack instead (I listen to podcasts at work to drive away the boredom). Jay & Jack suck so much! All it is are their stupid "crackpot theories" and usually over half of the show is just listener voicemails! Those guys dont even try to cone up with their own material!
I miss my Lostcasts!
Posted by: Jimmy T | May 19, 2008 at 01:06 PM
The only good thing about this is that I found out about the Jay and Jake podcast.
Posted by: Justin | May 19, 2008 at 04:43 PM
Since there will be NO lost for MONTHS I honestly expected at least something for episode 69. Maybe you guys should use TalkShoe or something so you don't have to be in the same room to podcast. Also any calls or emails or theories are going to be musty in 2-3 weeks. C'mon.
Posted by: Some guy | May 19, 2008 at 06:57 PM
Don't start the Lostcasts hate chain just b/c you didn't get a double podcast, ppl... It gets old... QUICK. When they're back they'll hook us up. Watch Grey's Anatomy or something...lol
When it's offered for free, expect to get what you paid for.
Posted by: Jes' | May 20, 2008 at 03:22 AM
Grey's Anatomy....*vomits*
Man, y'know I think the worst part about not getting a lostcast is it feels like I'm missing half the show! I know this might sound kind of awful but the truth is I almost look forward to lostcasts more than the show itself. Pretty terrible, eh? Anyways hope you guys don't podfade, and hope to hear from you soon!

Locke is n the coffin and is the "he" referred to in last seasons finale. They have to go back to the island and resurrect locke. Ben turns up to the coffin and approachses Jack to tell him this. Enojy!

Hey guys...I know that you may have the same scheduling conflicts this coming weekend as you did the last, but if not I have a suggestion. Since Lost ISN'T airing a new episode this week, why don't you guys do a podcast this weekend about the past two episodes and then do a regular podcast the weekend after the season finale? I just can't imagine how you guys are gonna be able to fit everything that happened in the last three episodes (or four hours) of the season in one podcast (and give everything the proper attention [a.k.a. time] it deserves), unless it is 2+ hours long. Just a suggestion from someone suffering LostCasts withdrawal. Stay Lost.
Posted by: Alex | May 21, 2008 at 02:54 AM
It's a free podcast. They've done many, many great episodes. That being said, it really isn't that hard to carve out an hour a week for something they've built that's acquired quite a following. My roommate works with a few of these guys, and let's just they're not doctors. In fact, their field of work may be the opposite of that in terms of societal impact.
The Jay and Jack podcast is OK. Jack's (the dad) ideas are horrible, and they get some of the most ridiculous listener theories imaginable. Momentum is often indicative of the future, and it's likely that this thing won't make it through next season. Anybody have a good Lost podcast to recommend?
Posted by: Mike | May 21, 2008 at 11:18 AM
I personally don't podcast hop. It goes 1.) The OFFICIAL podcast, and 2.) LOSTcasts, IMO.
Re: the Locke coffin spoiler - unless it was leaked on Lostpedia (doubt it!) then don't sweat it...
And enjoy your Memorial Day week everyone! I know Matt and co. have families and have to do the cookout/beach/fireworks thing. See you when you get back!
LOST fans - you really should get outside every once in a while. I'm into the theories too, but it's *just a show* A hella-GOOD show, but just a show :)

WOW. You should be ashamed of yourselves . . . especially John. This is how you treat other people who give you free enjoyment and something to look forward to on the weekend? THESE GUYS HAVE GIVEN US AN AWESOME PODCAST WEEK AFTER WEEK, MONTH AFTER MONTH. I appreciate your time and resources guys. Heaven forbid you have a life that gets in the way of the GD podcast. Yikes. If these people even knew how much time, energy, resources and finances you put into this podcast they would really be put to shame. Thank you so much for your effort and commitment to the podcast.

As I was watching the Episode "There's No Place Like Home" Par 1, I realized something very "interesting." During the scene were Locke's mother gets hit by the car, It occured to me that Ben's mother's name was also Emily. I think that it would be very cool to find out that Ben and Locke are brothers. If Ben was the chosen leader of the island before Locke came aboard, then it would only make sense that someone else in his family would have to take over after him.
Also, when Locke's mom was giving birth to him she seemed to be having certain difficulties, considering all of the blood and the necessary tools they used to help aid the birth of Locke. We know that when Ben was being born his mother had the similar difficulties, eventually resulting in death.
Posted by: Tyler Blonski | May 23, 2008 at 03:20 PM
yeah, why would the writers use the same name for both Locke and Ben's mum, when there are plenty of others to choose from? 1) she is the same person (personally I think they DON'T share a mother) or 2) the writers know that the same name thing will cause Lost geeks like us to discuss it for weeks on end :)
Posted by: Elaine | May 24, 2008 at 12:21 PM
Interesting... Who are the 3 people that died on the island. the Oceanic 6 included Aaron, but he wasnt one of the 8 that made it off the plane, since he wasnt born. Very interesting....
Posted by: jeffinthe9 | May 24, 2008 at 07:41 PM
@ jeffinthe9
The re-showing of part one on Thursday will include a deleted scene that addresses the point you just made. From what I hear, Jack has to backtrack and come up with three names on the fly.
Posted by: frankmorris | May 25, 2008 at 03:07 AM
aaron is without a doubt one of the oceanic 6 why are people still discussing this, the oceanic women said it to the 6 of them including aaron, you are being known as the oceanic 6 so thats that, and if its not enough, the oceanic 6 are the 6 people who survived and were rescued, it dosnt matter who got off the plane,
Posted by: alan | May 25, 2008 at 07:53 AM
completely agree that Aaron is one of the O6, I think the discussion has continued because of their claim that '8 made it off the plane' - that could not have included Aaron as he wasn't yet born and means some other people have to be accounted for. Let's hope the island is never found; there's enough shallow graves on it to choose from! Haven't heard exactly what the extra press conference footage will say about who they are (trying to stay completely spoiler free until next week, it's hard!), but it would be cool if the 3 names included Paulo and Nikki :) It DOES matter who got off the plane, because it'll be interesting to find out if the people they name as making off the plane but NOT off the island are indeed still alive - presume that the O6 are LEAVING people behind alive (and not just people we know that died and were buried there). With the bit of a plot hole of Michael & Walt making it back to New York without being bothered by immigration services, who's to say that anyone else didn't at a later date? Finally it will be cool to find out who was in the coffin at the end of S3. If that isn't one of the O6 or Michael or Walt, then how did he/she get there?
Posted by: elaine | May 25, 2008 at 12:15 PM
oh, maybe Michael & Walt got to use Ben's time/travel instead of going off in that boat? :)
Posted by: elaine | May 25, 2008 at 12:18 PM
The oceanic "3" that Jack will mention this coming week will be Charlie Pace, Boone Carlyle and Libby. Jack won't know her last name though.
Add the 5 adults from the oceanic 6 (Aaron wasn't born yet) and those were the 8 survivors who survived the initial plane crash.
Interesting that the other 3 actually did die on the Island

Re the request for another podcast, I can second the Lost Initiative (which someone above mentioned). Being a UK-based one, it has been a week behind the US schedule but they pack some good theory discussion in whilst remaining entertaining. Of course no subsititute for Lostcasts (hope you can keep the enthusiasm guys) but decent diversion in the meantime :-).
Posted by: Tom | May 26, 2008 at 06:06 AM
The UK Lost Initiative is a good one except for the fact no matter how much info is in an episode, they stick to 30 minutes.
Its like some 'consultant' has told them that 30 minutes is the optimal time for a podcast.
The Lost Lowdown may not be to everyones taste but I like it - 3 to 6 hours long.
Jay and Jack - just recap and dumb theories.
The Transmission - Like it - good theories.

MMM - Posting a spoiler like that is a total dick move. You are a complete fag. And the fact that the Lostcasts crew have left your spoiler unmoderated is a testament to their laziness. I am unsubscribing from this podcast and will never support their future endeavors. For MMM to spoil so many people is pathetic. For the Lostcasters to let his post sit on this site for eight days is a complete abomination.
I'm going to hunt each and every one of you down and punch you in the neck. Until then, I'm staying the fuck away from this abortion of a community.
