W00t first post.
This weeks ep would have been filler if it hadnt given one good detail. This was when Jack said to Kate concearn sawyer "He chose to stay there". This may not be the exacte quote but it was words similar to these.

a filler? are you kidding? what about creepy christian hanging around? charlotte and her multi language skills? in my opinion it really was nice built set up to finale. however it is getting more and more sci-fi now, which i don´t know if i like:-(.
also, miles was able to see christian, erica in hospital wasn´t... what´s up with that?
great podcast as always. thank you, boys.

I haven't listened to the podcast yet so I don't know if this is mentioned yet. But is it possible that Clair was killed by that rocket a couple weeks ago? That would be why Miles asked if he could take the baby and why it showed us Christian holding the baby to show that dead people can hold him. Clair may not know she's dead yet.

In response to the podcast : Edward Mars is the marshall that was transporting Kate.
Elliot (had to look this one up) is from that Lost video game. (Via Domus)
As far as Sawyer's new protectiveness, I beleive it goes further back. Sawyer left to save the Losties in the season 3 finale and wouldn't let Kate go. I believe Sawyer is a different man since killing Cooper (Lock's dad/the real Sawyer).

Why do we assume Jack's problem was really his appendix? Couldn't it be an implant like the one Ben "activated" in Claire to make her sick?

Wow, 38 minutes? Getting bored?

Usually I am not the one to complain but I could have done without hearing the endless list of all the nicknames that Sawyer has ever used...

great podcast guys, next weeks one looks insanely good, should have alot of things to analyse.

Where did you guys find the list of Sawyer nicknames?
Posted by: Wes | May 05, 2008 at 12:43 PM
After listening to the podcast and Robert was talking about how the "split" in the group didn't really pan out the way we thought it would have: maybe Hurley's comment to Jack in the first episode this year ("I'm sorry I went with Locke") was not in reference to the split in the group back then, but how he quasi-volunteered to go with Locke and Ben this week. Since he appears to be the only one that can locate Jacob's cabin, perhaps they locate it and something bad happens with Jacob/to the rest of the Losties because of this contact with Jacob, and Hurley blames himself?
Just a thought

Sweet! they read my comment in this podcast. lol.

For the guys you couldn't remember for the nicknames, here they are:
~Elliot was the guy on Via Domus
~Edward Mars was the federal marshall that was after Kate
Sawyer called Locke "Gimpy McCrutch" after Ana Lucia stole his gun to get revenge on Ben (while he was still being called "Henry Gale"). The nickname was used at the beginning of "?".

Just in reply to the smoke monster vision, Shannon wasn't the only one who saw Walt, Sayid saw him too.
And the Malkin prophecy took place in season one "Raised By Another", not season two.

Also, could have done without the list of Sawyer's nicknames thanks guys...

Just wanted to comment about Jack's appendicitis.
Some fans are saying that this particular subplot was irrelevant. However, as many others have seen over the past seasons, the happenings of the flash(forwards or backs)tend to directly parallel or juxtapose the scenario of that character while on the island.
On the island, Jack's medical issue starts to hurt his ability to lead. He displays trust issues (not wanted to be knocked out and wanting to oversee the surgery), and we see that his self-imposed burden of getting everyone off of the island is quickly unraveling.
These events all parallel the flash-forward. Just when he seems happy and has it "together," he catches Kate on the phone and after a very creepy meeting with Hurley Jack sees his father. Not only does he develop trust issues with Kate, but he starts abusing medication and alcohol. He starts to unravel and lose control.
I am interested in this week's episode as I love learning more about Jacob, DHARMA, and John Locke. Hopefully we will see more direct parallels and juxtapositions.
Stay Lost.

just saw this on a lost site, they did a bad job on karl and rosseau http://www.lostcommunity.co.uk/forums/abc-4-10-something-nice-back-home/7682-shallow-grave-not-rousseau-karl.html

pretty sure half that podcast was reading through Sawyer nicknames. sigh. not your fault. a boring episode of LOST is to blame

I, for one, loved the list of sawyers nickname. They do such a good job at making each character so distinct and with so much personality.

Another excellent podcast! I can't believe this season is fast coming to an end. I barely made it through last year's massive break with my sanity in tact ...

I personally liked the list of Sawyer nicknames too - I know it's not delving deeply into Master's level literary analysis, but it does give a funny/interesting look at Sawyer's psyche and how he views his own status within the group.
Keep up the good work guys, you always point out nice takeaways.

the whole "choosing to go" thing is very interesting... at some point people made a choice to leave or stay on the island. I think we've been let into some of the reasons why:
Sayid chose to go so he could find the love of his life and marry her
Sun chose to go so her baby would live
kate chose to go b/c somewhere along the way Claire empowered Kate to raise aaron for her
Aaron didn't have much of a choice
jack chose to go b/c kate did
Hurley is a bit of a question mark.... but he certainly has no reason to stay on the island like
Sawyer, Rose, Locke, etc.... lots of reasons for them to stay.
just a thought

what a boring episode that was
Posted by: john ross | May 08, 2008 at 11:13 AM
In the last episode when Claire got lost. She propably was taken because she's the first one ever to give birth in the island.
Posted by: Kane | May 09, 2008 at 03:47 AM
Maybe Claire was taken because Ben called the smoke monster.
