It's been way too long since LOST has been on the air. In fact, it's been soo long that we really haven't had much of a reason to do a podcast. We'll do some sort of podcast prior to the season starting again... at least to get everyone caught up with where we left off, and what's to com. It probably won't be until after the holidays, around the first of the year...

First.
There's an "e" in come.

Thanks for the update.
Enjoy your Cristmas Guys.

Who cares. Just a spelling mistake, Get over it.
Posted by: Pearson | November 01, 2008 at 05:03 PM
Yeah!
You could discuss the season 5 promo... there's some tasty tidbits in there. Come to think of it, maybe I'll email you some theories. :)
Posted by: andyNick | November 01, 2008 at 06:16 PM
@2
Who cares should have a question mark after it; who cares?
Posted by: Sea Captain | November 02, 2008 at 09:52 AM
Also, there is an "h" in Christmas.
Posted by: Sea Captain | November 02, 2008 at 06:27 PM
hey guys, thanks for the update.
looking forward to lost starting again and hearing your theories and the sound of chips being eaten by the microphone :)
2-ish months!

Looking forward to the next podcast - glad that you haven't abandoned us.

Lost seems to be theory-proof these days what with everything starting to wrap up. Comparing recent episodes to those of season 1 and 2: it's like night and day. So much theory-ground to cover in those early days.
Season 2 takes the cake for theory-fodder. The 23rd Psalm, Fire + Water, ?, Lockdown... jessy chressy, those episodes defined Lost for me. Here's hoping seasons 5 & 6 get back to blowing our minds at every turn.
For a humorous break, listen to LosrCast 31: Bad Twin. Nothing could be funnier.
By the way, grammar-policing and spell-checkery are the pinnacles of douchebaggery.
Posted by: Tyler J | November 05, 2008 at 02:37 AM
Grammar-policing should be separate words (grammar policing), and douchebaggery should be hyphenated (douche-baggery).
Posted by: Sea Captain | November 05, 2008 at 11:41 PM
Good to know you guys are still out there. Looking forward to the podcast.
Posted by: Dave | November 06, 2008 at 07:28 PM
Can I just point out that I did the first two Sea Captain posts, and the rest were by someone different. And I agree; he is a douchebag.
Posted by: Sea Captain | November 07, 2008 at 01:45 PM
There should be a comma after "different" rather than a period. You never begin a sentence with a conjunction.
Posted by: Sea Captain | November 07, 2008 at 03:27 PM
Also, there should be a question mark after the word "posts" rather than a comma followed by a new sentence (not beginning with "and" of course as I mentioned before).

Fuck you, you lowlife, unfunny, unoriginal, annoying waste of oxygen.
Posted by: Sea Captain (The First One) | November 07, 2008 at 06:54 PM
I apologize. It was me who started the anal spelling/ grammar corrections, and then became angry when I was imitated. I realize now how annoying it is.
Posted by: Sea Captain (The First One) | November 07, 2008 at 10:18 PM
Ive read some spoilers that I won't discuss of course, but I'm very exited about season 5.
I'm also looking forward to the podcast.
Happy Holidays

Well job, grammerpolicers.
Me am Bizarro

"lowlife, unfunny, unoriginal, annoying waste of oxygen"
Me or your doppleganger? Probably both...
Posted by: Tyler J | November 10, 2008 at 12:40 PM
Oh I get it now. I'm not the "lowlife, unfunny, unoriginal, annoying waste of oxygen" or at least not the one refered to in this post. Care on Losties.
Posted by: Tyler J | November 10, 2008 at 12:43 PM
That should be "carry on"...
Posted by: Tyler J | November 10, 2008 at 05:56 PM
Fake Sea Captain,
It's perfectly correct to begin a sentence with a conjunction. Here is an example: "And when they arrived, they found buried treasure." Because so many people cannot understand the difference between a dependent clause and an independent clause, most teachers simply make it easy on themselves and tell students never to begin a sentence with a conjunction.
Posted by: BlackEyedDog | November 12, 2008 at 03:52 PM
Fuck you douche bag (just kidding)
"and when they arrived, they found buried treasure" is a dependent clause and a dependent clause by definition is an incomplete sentence.
Here is a complete sentence:
They set course for the island, and when they arrived, they found buried treasure.
I could be wrong, but then I'm not the real the grammar police. I'm just a fly in the ointment.
Posted by: Fake Sea Captain | November 12, 2008 at 10:30 PM
I'm knot shore I shoold start the hole cambridge comma debate as that mite be a little to high brow four this audience. And while I think about it, starting a sentence with and is always considered bad grammer.
BTW Irony is like brassy and goldy only made of iron.
Posted by: pedant | November 13, 2008 at 05:37 AM
can I just say I think it's hilarious that what's being discussed on this comment board is grammar.
lame.

Can I just say? I think it's hilarious that what's being discussed on this comment board is grammar.
Posted by: Sea Captain | November 13, 2008 at 08:00 PM
I agree.
Posted by: Tyler J | November 14, 2008 at 04:39 PM
"And when they arrived" is a dependent clause. "They found buried treasure" is an independent clause. Put them together, and you have a dependent clause DEPENDING ON the independent clause. Not a fragment.
From Hodges' Harbrace Handbook, 16th Ed., page 206:
"If you begin a sentence with a dependent clause, you should place a comma after it to set it off from the independent clause." So why would this college handbook offer such advice if it were wrong to begin a sentence with a conjunction?
From http://www.chompchomp.com/terms/coordinatingconjunction.htm
"Some teachers warn that beginning a sentence with a coordinating conjunction is wrong. Teachers will typically tell you this because they are trying to help you avoid writing fragments. Other times teachers give this advice because their preference is that a sentence not begin with a coordinating conjunction.
What you should remember is that you break no grammar rule if you begin a sentence with a coordinating conjunction. Because you might be breaking your instructors' rules, however, you should ask what their preferences are."

I would rather be discussing Lost.
Posted by: BlackEyedDog | November 14, 2008 at 05:01 PM
maybe he meant CUM, in which the absence of an "e" is perfectly acceptable (though argueable by grammatic analists such as y'all)
Posted by: Bob Slavins | November 15, 2008 at 01:29 AM
Okay, this is an ACTUAL English teacher chiming in... isn't this supposed to be a fun, friendly place for us to thank our hosts for putting forth all the effort it takes to produce this podcast for us to enjoy? BREATHE.
And count the days until LOST (and LOSTCast!) begins again.
Until then, Happy Holidays to all. And make sure to ask Santa for an eraser. There, I did it.

Okay class...
We all saw the island disappear at the end of season four.
In season five, we will learn that the island:
A. Moved forward in time.
B. Moved backward in time.
C. Did not move in time, but it did move in space -- to another location on the planet.
D. Did not move in time or space -- it's still there, but Dharma tech renders it invisible to the naked eye.
E. None of the above.
Discuss
Posted by: frankmorris | November 16, 2008 at 01:29 AM
(raises hand)
Can I go to the bathroom?
Okay...I'm going to say C and B. I don't think "move" would have been used if the island was not actually going to change location...but maybe every time it moves, it goes a bit back in time. This might explain the time difference we've seen--when something was sent through the air from the ship, it landed later than it should have. (Or would that mean the island has moved forward in time...?)
Posted by: BlackEyedDog | November 16, 2008 at 02:57 PM
Giving an essay answer to a simple multiguess answer .....
It could be 'A' as the island could jump forward (say a week) and thus disappear for that period of time (but the rat in Faradays experiment did not disappear and neither did Desmond when they were time travelling but perhaps non-living things are affected differently) and then 'we' would catch up with it after a period of time but time would be all out of sync but then if time moves at a different rate (slower) on the island that would explain how we caught up and time remian more or less constant in both our and island time. I don't recall all the maths from before but it may or may not be what is going on with Faradays rocket experiment. The people on the Zodiac boat (inc. Faraday) could turn up on the island in the future as they would catch up with the island again assuming the island moves through time slower once it has jumped forward. All but Faraday would presumably die as he has a constant (Des) but they don't. IF Jin survived, which I think he did, his constant could be Sun and he, we assume, will also catch up with the island -- though how he survives remains a mystery, unless he's picked up by Faraday.
It can't be B or the island would still be there as it's been there up until now and if it moved back in time then it would catch up with itself so would instantly reappear as soon as it disappears and as 'we' are there now to us it would be instantaneous though to those on the island time would pass 'normally' -- does that make sense ? Also what would happen when it moved backwards ? Does it shift in space as well ? Would Sawyer etc keep bumping into themselves ? Or would they, on the time-shifted island, be 'out of phase' with the un-time shifted island ? Maybe the whispers are the people from the future who know what is going to happen. Of course the island reappearing from the past could be the opening scene in S5, or even the closing scene. But if it reappeared instantly then Jack et al would have seen it reappear.
If it's C then it could be a challenge for the O6 and Ben to find again. Unless Ben has some inside info as to where the island shifted in space or has some kind of homeing device to find it. But he doesn't seem to. But then it would be an interesting sequence of events having them looking for it -- as long as it doesn't go on too long.
If it's D then I don't get the last scene when it looks like the island's sunk and the ripples are moving. Why would that happen if it just went invisible ? Why would turning invisible make waves ? What am a talking about make sense ? Like a dissappearing island makes sense !!
If it's E then I can't see what else there is but then LOST has surprised me before. It could be some really simple thing like Faraday says "Oh we have to go on bearing 327 and we'll find the island down on the left just past the Starbucks". That would be dissappointing.
Posted by: Waiting for Lost | November 16, 2008 at 11:56 PM
"B"
The island has returned to the glory days of Dharma.
Ben will use present day (2005) Dharma facilities to return the Oceanic 6 to the island.

LOST returns in only a few weeks. YES!!!! Getting the Season 4 boxset over the holidays helped the wait go a little faster, I have to admit.
Stay Lost, everyone!

Hope you put out a 'cast soon...sick of listening to those two fanboys over on the other one. Whatever possessed the old dude to sing a Lost version of American Pie I'll never know...
Stay lost

You're not really going to do a pre-season podcast, are you? You guys have dropped this ball so many times now that I can't believe you still bother to pretend. Are you lying to yourselves as well as us? You seem to have lost a lot of interest in your own podcast. I'm predicting a lot of "oh, we've been so incredibly busy" and "I'm doing this on my own since whats-his-name is having his cat neutered" as excuses for skipped, shortened, or just bad podcasts.

I have to agree with Mark P. and his comment. Over the past season or so, this podcast has really lost its shine. This used to be my goto podcast (after the Official one of course) and I used to be so pumped on Sunday Afternoons. But now it seems like one post for three months is sufficient for you guys. I can easily see a Theory or Prediction Podcast that can fill an hour. You don't even moderate the comment section and let asses like Sea Captain ruin this site with vulgarity and plain stupidness. It is pathetic. I understand people have lives and other commitments, especially with the holidays just passing us, but do not promise the fanbase you have created a podcast and not even inform what the hell is going on. An update is at least mandatory. How long does that take, 5 minutes? I hope that when season 5 comes along, things are up an running and LostCasts will be back to its glorious self because there was a real lack of effort this past season.

IGN.com has the advanced reviews of the first 2 Episodes of Lost. There pretty much spoiler free. I hope we get a new Podcast this weekend. Less then 2 weeks until the Season begins. Can't wait.
Stay Lost.

hey guys,
long time listener first time writer.
If it aint time for a podcast now, when will it be?
Its 09, and I've been starved of lost, and for that matter lostcasts, for way too long - lets fire up: theories, spoilers, bad jokes etc bring it on.
Love you guys and your show.

Can you guys just put ads on this site and commercials on your podcast so that you might have a reason to knock them out on a regular basis once again? Come on! Throw an unemployed guy a freaking bone here!

Any updates on a pre-season podcast ?
Come of fellas you know it makes sense.
Guess the predictions/recap podcast be out this weekend just in time for the new season.....

You guys have a great podcast, but you need to cultivate it. You've created the best Lost podcast out there. I know a lot of busy people who are in a lot more important industries than advertising and who have newish wives or new kids who could still find the time to spend a couple hours a week on a creation with a fan base like Lostcasts. My basketball team is three-quarters medical residents, and they show up every week.
Posted by: Mike | January 15, 2009 at 02:22 AM
Since there's no news about LOSTcasts, I recommend the Black Rock Lost podcast. You can find it on Talkshoe ( http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/talkCast.jsp?masterId=21826&cmd=tc ) or just search it on iTunes. It's also one of the more intelligent Lost podcasts...
But I really hope LOSTcasts will be back soon!

Lost...after all this time...LOST!
So, they rebroadcasted the last three episodes of the last season last night, which was fun - althouth the explanations at the bottom of the screen is annoying.

Thanks Dave. Good to know I'm not the only one who is disappointed in the way this podcast seems to be petering out. What especially irritated me was that when they first posted here that they would do a pre-season podcast, I knew damn well it would never happen. It was annoying how predictable that was.
Thanks also to m for the Black Rock podcast recommendation. It was great! I was surprised I hadn't heard of it before. I would recommend it highly to losties out there who miss the in-depth analysis and discussion previously found here on the lostcast.
