Lost is back, life is good!!!

Nik

yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
welcome back boys!

Steven

Glad you guys are back, Great cast.

Sara

a few things- Desmond met Ms. Hawkings in season 3 when he wakes up after he blew the hatch. He flashes back to when he left Penny.
You also seem to have forgotten that Charlie, at the beginning of season 4, appeared to Hurley and pushed him to go back to the island. I think Claire may not want Aaron to come back, but the island seems to want them back.

monogirl

Glad you guys are back and congrats on the new baby and the upcoming wedding!
I have some thoughts about the Others fertility problem. I am assuming that baby Pierre Chang was born on island. I am also assuming this birth was pre-"incident" Let's say the "incident" was the cause of the island skipping around in time. How could you maintain a pregnancy skipping back and forth through time? If you skip to before conception are you no longer pregnant? If you skip to after it's birth, where is the baby? Or is it like the folks with no constant and any time skip results in an eventual miscarriage?
So if the island has the potential to move around in time, it's probably not the best idea that anyone get pregnant. The island may be controlling this by causing the mother's body to turn on the fetus with the conceptions that do happen and preventing pregnancy with the 70 year old uterus in a 25 year old body thing. It's clear it can give health and take it away. Though it's ironic the men's sperm count is so high. Maybe that is the universe stepping in to course correct?
Assuming the button was keeping the island stuck in time, then Claire's pregnancy was in no danger as she gave birth way before the hatch imploded. However, this means Sun's pregnancy was potentially even more dangerous than Juliet predicted.
Should Sun and the rest of the gang get back to the island what becomes of Ji-Yeon? It was made very clear in two references the baby is in Korea. I wonder if Sun will have to give up her baby's existence to save Jin and the rest of the Losties.

Watching this show is so damn fun! Stay Lost.

claiming Faraday is an "Island Enthusiast" was the best line ever...

Nothing like a side of Lostcasts
Congrats John and Sasha, and to Robert as well.

btw, I vaguely remember a discussion about Mr. Weatherbee from the Archie comics, but I cant for the life of me remember why.

Hi Guys,

Great to have you back.

Just a mention of someting I saw last night on the UK TV channel Sky 1.The had a fluff program on where some TV journalist was in Hawaii on set. There were a few little behind the sceenes interviews with a few cast members but nothing of any real interest. However, there was a scene being shot at one point, where Sawyer,Kate and Sayid were in the Dharma village, all dressd in brand spanking new Dharma overalls along with several other Dharma folks ! Clearly the village was up and running and inhabited,so this would imply (to me at least) that at some point in the past, the Island bound Losties get involved with the Dharma group back in their heyday.

Might be something, might be nothing, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Stay lost !

Cheers,

Neil

Careful of the unmarked spoilers Neil...

Whoops, sorry everyone, didn't mean that to have any Spoileresque qualities.

Thanks Mike.won't happen again.

Great Podcast guys -a little loose, but you will pick it up as the season progresses ;)

A few things that came to mind as I listened.

1) Daniel definitely knows more than he is letting on. He tells the group that you can't do something that hasn't already been done. Then, after he sends everyone back to the beach, he confronts Desmond in the hatch. So: either he has already done this, or he is changing what takes place. Either way, he is holding back some important info.

2) The babies are important. Dr. Chang (Waxman, Wickman, Candle) has a baby that the writers wanted us to notice. The intro could have been effective without the baby scene, so I am thinking that the importance of the baby will be revealed sometime soon. And, you are right, Sun's pic of her baby was a couple years outdated. That is important as well. Just gotta figure that out.

3) I am dying to figure out what happened between Ben and Sayid!

4) Charlotte's mother is important. Why else would the writer's have her mention that she forgot her mother's maiden name? IF they just wanted to hint at her mind being mush, they could have used anything, but they insisted on pointing out the forgetting of her mother's maiden name.

again, great to listen again. Just a reminder to those posting comments. Give spoiler warnings. I love spoilers, but many here avoid them like the plague.

Hmmm... I'm not so sure that Dr. Chang is the Big Boss of Dharma Initiative for one reason: Why would a leader have multiple aliases that he tells his own followers? His identity is covert, which isn't typical of a figure-head.

@ Scott in Philly:

I've been checking the forum for any new posts since the premiere and other than the one I posted and your subsequent comment there's been zero activity. It appears Jackie is MIA as well as the other moderators.

Too bad, it was a good place to read and contribute to and really complimented my enjoyment of Season 4.

@ Russellihrig

I agree Chang is not Dharma's leader, he's likely the guy behind the guy...like an Alpert to Ben, or Ben to Jacob...he presumably holds the key to a lot of island mysteries, especially time travel oriented ones, and I think some scientist to scientist dialogue between he and Faraday would be very enlightening.

Re: The Forum

Although I was a moderator for quite a while, after the end of Season 4, I began visiting less frequently. It appears that the activity level has definitely fallen off. Maybe we got spread to thin? Maybe Jackie will break radio silence soon.

In the meantime, I say that we use the comments section to discuss the episodes, theories, and spoilers. Just make sure we put warnings on any spoilers.

russellihrig

Sorry if I just misheard this, but I feel like you guys said something about 342 being some sort of new numbers, but it's actually just the last 3 digits of the numbers: 2(3, 42)

SPOILER SPOILERRRRR

SPOILERRRR

LOOK AWAY!

okay so on the sky1 programme (Lost Season 5 Revealed) a few good things came up.

1) As someone's already mentioned, Sawyer, Miles and Jack are all seen wearing Dharma jumpsuits. Sawyer's reads: "Le Fleur, Security Management")

2) Henry Ian Cusick (who plays Desmond) strongly hinted that he and Penny have a baby.

3) Naveen Andrews (Sayid) said "we've all travelled in time."

4) Michael Emerson (Ben) said he travels in time and around the world (though I guess we already knew this)

Love the show!!!
Lara.

SPOILER!!

SPOILER!!!!!

Did anyone notice that when Daniel was describing how the island was like a broken record he said something like "When Ben turned that wheel the island started skipping" How does he know, or how does anyone know, what Ben did down in that chamber?

Mike in the Box

@ herr zrbo

From the episode transcript:

"Daniel: The island… [pauses] think of the island like a record spinning on a turntable, only now, that record is skipping. Whatever Ben Linus did down at the Orchid Station…. [pauses] I think it may have, dislodged us."

He didn't necessarily say that Ben turned the wheel. But he does know that Ben did something at the Orchid Station and as a result of that action, the island became unstable.

Off topic, where are the rest of the comment contributors? I expected more people posting after such a long drought.

Scott in Philly

@ Mike in the Box

great question - the season 5 premiere seems to be the kind of episodes that would elicit 100+ comments - but here we are with 0 forum activity & low comment section activity - I miss everyone... How can we get them to come back to the island?... ALL of them!

RobC

Dr. Chang makes reference to the island's hostile indigenous population in the orientation speech. Was this the first reference to them being indigenous? Or did he make the same reference when Locke first finds the Arrow?

RobC

I also love the idea that the Valenzetti Equation has been thrown off by Ben or Desmond.

I think the forum should wither. It was a nice idea, but it split the content that we were generating here, and I think both sites suffered as a result.

I wonder if Montaund lost his arm because some psycho soldier cut it off.

Chris in Fort Worth

The real reason the forum came about was due to the foul nonsensical nature the comments section took on during the hiatus between Season 3 and Season 4...

A lot of great ideas were expounded upon in the forum and I hope folks haven't given up on sharing their thoughts as we experience these final seasons as Scott in Philly observed.

I want to read some lengthy posts about time travel from fans smarter than me!

Matt Jones' Stepmother

This podcast was such a letdown. Remember when you all would rewatch episodes so that you'd actually know what the hell you were talking about? God, this shit blew SO hard. Please do some work before you podcast. Lostcast's research and attention to detail were the two qualities that distinguished it from all the other Lost podcasts. You might as well be Jay and Jack. Matt don't bother coming home this evening, we've changed all the locks out of shame.

herr zrbo

@Mike in the box-

Ok, that clears it up a little, but how did Daniel even know Ben had gone to the Orchid station? As far as I remember Ben and Locke were there, and Jack, Hurley and Sawyer too. Daniel was out on the raft. It seemed more of a convenient way for the writers to explain what was happening to the island even though the characters themselves (mainly Daniel) wouldn't have been aware of those events.

Am I missing something here? I would hope the writers would be consistent, maybe there was a way for Daniel to know that something had transpired at the Orchid?

Mike in the Box

Re: Daniel's knowledge of the Orchid.

There are a few reason Daniel might know what happened.
1) We always assume that people do not share information. It is possible that the characters speak to each other without it being a scene in the show. So, Sawyer could have shared that Ben was at the Orchid. Then it is an easy conclusion that Ben+the Orchid=time rift.

or

2) Daniel obviously knows more than he is letting on. Not only has he seen the Orchid with his own eyes (even if it was before they dug out the "donkey wheel".) Perhaps his research has led him to conclude that the energy from the Orchid could do something this drastic. With that kind of logic and the fact that Ben is known as the guy with the plans, it would be easy to conclude that Ben+the Orchid=time rift.

or

3) The information we need has yet to be revealed. We will possibly find out more in tonight's episode.

or

4) The writers simply messed up. I don't think so. But it is possible.

WELCOME BACK, GUYS!

Great premiere and a podcast to match.
Keep it up!

Wow.. God knows what will happen tonight..

Courtney

It's great to have you guys back! Congrats all around.

Scott in Philly

it's my belief that the "hostile indigenous people" could actually be our lostaways transporting back in time trying to change things. they take on that role & then become their own type of "others"

Matt Jones' Stepmother

Faraday has been researching Dharma for years right?

Matt, I'm sorry we had to call the cops last night, but we told you: You can't stay in the pool equipment shed.

Jackeduplockedown

I'm back; I'll start maintenance on the forum now.

So far this season looks great.

And I second the motion of getting the gang back together.

Blast from the past guys!! Just listening to your first podcast of the season after streaming the...I guess it would be 3rd episode of the season. First off, what news we have!! Uber congrats to Tasha and John for the engagement news and soon to be wedding in March. I'm so happy for your guys! Googoo and gaagaa congrats to Robert and the wifey on Oliver Stone, Elle will have the cutest little brother! And, it's great to hear from you again, Matt! I'm not quite done with the podcast, but I couldn't wait with my comments. What I was wondering with these new episodes was this....who the heck was it that said everybody on the island was in trouble or going to die? Somehow Daniel Farriday had this idea, and implanted it in Desmond's head/memory. (Also from Locke dying, he also conveys this message to Jack) Des then, gets this odd memory out of nowhere and makes it his new mission to (try to) save the rest of the people on the island. We then find out that Widmore has been his benefactor for years. My question, is this - is Desmond and Penelope still not the heart of this LOST story? Is the whole point to drive the two apart so they never live happily ever after? So lives the hopeless romantic in me, but signs sure do point to yes on this one. Love to hear what you guys have to say, as always!

- Joy =)
