We're back after our hiatus, and rather than waste time recapping the 4 episodes of LOST that have aired since our last podcast, it was time to refocus by revisiting theories prior to next week's 100th episode. Join Matt and John as we revisit some favorite old theories, discuss the theories the LOST producers have debunked and talk about a couple new theories worth paying attention to.

Anyone have a link to the Unsolved Mysteries page on Lostpedia that they talked about near the start?
Posted by: Rob | April 27, 2009 at 02:34 PM
hmmm... im still thinking the island was initially discovered by the crew of the Black Rock when...
Black Rock Sailing along + we know island can move = island appears underneath the Black Rock.
i thank you :-D
ok maybe not that tight, but i dont think the ship was tosssed, thrown etc, but it might expalin Widmore bidding on the ships journal and I can so see a season finale / opening where we see a period piece in which the ship is sailing along (in stormy seas), then big purple light, boom, shipwrecked in land. what do you guys think?

Hey guys! Love the podcast.
I was wondering if you have a reference or a link for that major spoiler. Not that I doubt your knowledge, but I'd like to make sure it's completely credible :).
Thanks!

hello, guys. greetings from slovakia from your biggest fan over here:-) love the way you did this podcast - that you decided to go through some major theories instead of wasting time with recaps.i am just impressed how much time do some people spend on creating those theories. considering it is a TV show. well, extraordinary one, but still... keep up the good work. you are simply the BEST!

Glad to have you guys back! I like how you guys keep me thinking as much as the show does!

Way back when Claire was pregnant and she visited the psychic Richard Malkin he said she should go to LA to have the baby adopted by some "good people". Could these "good people" have been Bram and/or Ilana ?

Always enjoyed the podcast but the last few before your hiatus and this most recent one have really gone south. Do you guys even watch or enjoy this show anymore? Seriously John acts completely uninterested throughout and you guys forget big names and story elements. Kinda expect better from Lostcasts :(
Posted by: Feo | April 29, 2009 at 04:13 AM
@frankmorris
Unless I'm mistaken, the Stewarts were the Australian couple who wanted to adopt Aaron. This was when Malkin was telling Claire not to allow Aaron to be raised by anyone but her. Later Malkin changed his mind and said he had found a couple in LA who could raise Aaron. Speculation at the time was that Malkin foresaw the crash so sent Claire on 815 delibrately. We never saw the "good people" in LA.
Posted by: Mark B | April 29, 2009 at 06:40 AM
@ Mark B
You may be right. I thought after her meeting with the Stewarts she was determined to raise Aaron herself, although I can't remember her reason for going to LA.
It's an interesting Idea. What do you suppose their motivation would be?

I was listening to another podcast and they mentioned that in the episode when Caesar is in the Hydra station and finds the shotgun you see Faradays notebook. Anyone else see it ? I didn't.

Hi Carlton, Is that the menacing purple lilac shirt you always wear whenever you sneak onto the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live to see whether Dominic Monaghan or JJ Abrams are gonna give away your secrets on live TV?

Too bad JJ didn't show off his new article in WIRED magazine while on tonight's Jimmy Kimmel Live. It has a picture of his famed Magic Box on the cover [ see: www dot wired dot com slash wired slash issue slash 17-05 ]. Older video fun here: [ www dot ted com slash talks slash view slash id slash 205 ]. Also just saw WIRED magazine neatly placed in tonight's episode when Widmore visits Daniel. Anyone else think Bram's metal box holds something MAGICAL inside? Hilarious, dudes!

@frankmorris
There are many holes in (or questions about) my theory when you spend even a small amount of time thinking about it …..
How did the Bram-Ilana group know about Malkin ? How did they know about Claire/Aaron ? If Malkin was a true psychic and foresaw Aarons importance to send him to that group why did he send him on 815 ? Why did Malkin not send Aaron to the Bram-Ilana group straightaway when he found him ? Why would the group want Aaron at all ? Would the Bram-Ilana group want Aaron if he was not born on the island ? Is Aaron special for other reasons ? Does his connection to Christain make him special ? Was Christian important to the island before he died and crashed there ? Does the group want him just to prevent 'others' having him ?
I think the motivation is that the group want Aaron as he is linked to the Shepard family line so his birth on the island is not that important to them. My current theory is that Ray-Christian-Jack are all linked to the island from way back. Maybe Ray was part of the 1950's group with Widmore and Eloise ….. would the timeline take that ? Assuming Jack is mid-30's, Christian could be mid-50's so would have to be born in 1950's which would be ok. Maybe Christian was born on the island ? Ray looked in his 70's so would have been 20's in the 1950's.
Assumptions have to be that Malkin was working with Bram-Ilana all along (could Malkin be linked to the island somehow … is he another child of the DI ?). Initially Malkin did not realise importance of Aaron as he did not know Claire was Christian's daughter, he knew on some level that Aaron was special but not about his lineage. The 815 crash was just bad luck ….. so Malkin is not that great a psychic unless Aaron is made more important by his birth on the island and the Bram-Ilana group planned on recovering him later -- big gamble given the Others on the isalnd and the chance of survival. Also this ignores the fact that Malkin told Eko he was a fraud ---- but he could have lied to Eko to keep the church from investigating.
I think the idea that Malkin is connected to the Bram-Ilana group just a nice speculation but am sure it's wrong and the more likely explaination is that Malkin foresaw the crash and put Claire on in in the expectation she would die or be trapped on the island.

The Children of the Island are special
A theme that was theory early on is starting to develop quite nicely.
It seems being born on the Island gives you a pretty good chance of being "special".
In season 1; it was noted that Ethan seemed to have heighten strength and speed. Now we know he was born on the Island.
Miles can communicate with dead people, Daniel was a prodigy and has extreme intellect.
Other then those three, we can only additionally confirm that Aaron was born on the Island.
Is it possible Walt was born there?
Posted by: Jackeduplockedown | April 30, 2009 at 08:36 AM
@ ackeduplockedown
I like the theory, but remember we do not necessarily know that Daniel was born on the Island. Also, could it be assumed that Charlotte was born on the Island? If so was Charlotte 'special' in some way?
Posted by: lburf | April 30, 2009 at 10:59 AM
What if Daniel was born on the island?
He would be there at the hostiles camp, and would be roughly the same age as the young Charlotte.
Eloise Hawking has been a proponent of course correction. She told Desmond he was supposed to go to the island. He was supposed to push the button. If the plane was supposed to crash on the island, she was simply changing the course the '30 something' Daniel was on.
Maybe the young Daniel is the variable referenced in the title.

Will someone please kill Radinsky, like now.
Only saving grace is that he off's himself in the Swan so must have had a shitty life for a few years.

SLIGHT SPOILER
In the preview for next week the Juliet:Sawyer "I love you" and "I love you back" is very Leia (I love you) and Han (I know) from the end of Empire.
BTW: Well known trivia .... Harrison Ford came up with the "I know" line.

Good episode.
Radzinsky has become so annoying that he will have legendary status pretty soon.
Someone will do a IloveRadzinsky website I bet.

Comrades -- I'm still stunned from being pistol-whipped with that spoiler. Hate to say it, but there's such a thing as spoiler etiquette. Before revealing anything you need to start with the question "Is this going to make watching the episode a glorified recap exercise?" Your spoiler was so loaded that it felt like I'd watched the episode already. You guys still have the most thoughtful 'cast, no question there. I'm going to have to cut you off when the spoilers come up.

Could the Marvin Candle video from last years Comic-con be proof that Daniel survives?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9O_fS_wNsPY
Daniel is clearly heard of camera. Candle/ Chang is on board with time travel which would have to be some point after Daniel was shot.
