Max

On the last episode, when Miles went to the Sub with Chang, he was surprised to see Daniel F...why was he surprised to see him? They were all time warped back to 1970's island together. I'm assuming that they will cover what happened to Daniels' mental breakdown in future episodes?

Max

Now I'm curious, what the hell is in the shadow of the statue? Who were those people who grabbed Miles in the Van? I seem to see a re-occuring theme here...vans.

Max

Just a random comment...I am really annoyed with Kate's character lately. I used to think she was so hot, but now I'm just annoyed with her, and could care less if she was on the show.

Chris in Ohio

Welcome back. Hope you enjoyed the honeymoon.

So did we get conformation last night on the existence of a 3rd group?

You have two sides Ben and Widmore. Ilana seemed to not recognize Ben on the plane and neither her or Bram seemed to think much of him when he asked if they needed any help with the big silver box, even though Ben seemed to know what they were up to.

Now in last nights episode Bram seemed to try to talk Miles out of working for Widmore in the van.

As Bram and Ilana seem to be working together that strongly suggests that they work for neither Ben or Widmore.

I would also assume by the question "what lies in the shadow of the statue" that they were there when the statue stood which might mean they are with Alpert?

Biolite

Like I said in the previous comment thread, it seems to me that the Ilana/Bram group are the real bad guys here. I think that this is a third party working against the island. The Others work for Jacob who is/represents the island. To me, Ben and Widmore seem like children bickering over who gets to lead the group and protect the island. While they're doing this, the real force working against the island is making it's play.

What lies in the shadow of the statue? Sand? :P

The Egyptian connection is growing. There were notes about Egypt on the blackboard in 'Some like it Hoth' and we have a giant statue of (probably) Anubis. WE have glyphs under the temple illustrating Anubis and the smoke monster. We have Richard who seems to be ageless (and wearing eyeliner). And we have Jacob, the unseen, leader. So how far does this go? Is Jacob Anubis and Richard is his servant? If that's the case, the island could be associated with the Egyptian afterlife as Anubis is the guardian of the afterlife.

Mark B

Two Miles ..... given the fact that there are two Miles in 1977 could the incident be caused by Miles meeting Miles ? Probably not, more likely something that happens at the Swan.

priscilla

i am so glad that you guys are back! i started watching lost 2 seasons ago, and caught myself up by watching the dvds. but - i just discovered the podcast, when i got an ipod a month or so ago. well, i LOVE your podcast. it's funny, i listen to about 4 different lost podcasts, but yours is definitely my favorite! as far as what to talk about, i have no idea. i am terminally confused. apparently, i am not smart enough to watch this show!

riverfr0zen

What lies at the shadow of the statue?

Well, if you think about what a shadow is, and how it changes based on the sun, I bet you the answer to this riddle is 'Time'.

This ties in nicely with the major theme of time in the show. Also, one thing that a massive statue like that would do is to cast a huge shadow, so one of its functions could be as an indicator of the time of day for whatever culture lived there.

Biolite

@riverfr0zen: Oooooooooooooooo I like that idea. Well done. Ah, but doesn't the island move around in space and time? (According to Mrs. Hawkings). IF that's the case, wouldn't the sundial be off a bit? :P

No matter, a very cool idea.

Rok

I've said for a while that, while pretty, Kate is as thick as a brick and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with any firearm she's ever had. She's constantly the liability of the group and adds very little more than romantic strife. I suppose she's got the heart (and apparently a universal blood type) to help make up for her other shortcomings, though.

Troy sanborn

Welcome Back! Congratulations and Shalom! Can't wait to hear your input on recent events. Do we have a third group? I KNOW Ben didn't hire people in a van to rattle Miles. Do the others have mercenaries out in the real world? Time will tell... Namaste

Daniel DiVita

I think you meant, what lies in the Sheut of the statue....

frankmorris

There will most likely be a third faction introduced. Ilana and those who abducted Miles have a "Knights Templar" feel about them, could be a cause that spans centuries. Remember Alvar Hanso was experimenting with prolonging life, and of course there is Richard Alpert and Magnus Hanso from the Black Rock.
At the very least Hanso has to be wondering what the hell happened with Dharma.

Mike in the Box

Re: Ilana/Bram's affiliation

Ben would not take the chance of Sayid not being on the Ajira flight. Since he could not get him there himself, he contracted a private operative to do the job. Could it be possible that Ilana and Bram are actually working for Ben, but have never met him? Could they be contracted through some sort of shell organization? It is apparent that Bram (and by association, Ilana)is anti-Widmore. I think that Ben has his hand in this.

Mark B

I'm with Mike in the Box on the Ilana/Bram affiliation. They are obviously not Widmore and I think it's too late in the show to start introducing a third party. Though I guess Dharma are not a "new" third party at all but have been around for at least 30 years and were introduced to us what S2 ?

Hanso has not been mentioned as far as I remember in the tv show just on the ARGs etc. so perhaps it's time for him to appear on the show proper, or at least get a mention.

Anyhow I think they are working for Ben without knowing.

frankmorris

@ Mike in the Box
Ben was recruiting Michael around the time Miles was abducted, but it seems unlikely for him to recruit and coordinate an entire team considering how full his hands were at the time.
Also, Maybe Ilana and Bram did not realize he was the one who hired them, but again, unlikely.
I admit I don't have much evidence for Hanso, It's just that I've been waiting for him to become cannon.

Mark B

I just don't see someone who set-up the Dharma Initative as being so gung-ho as to kidnap people off the street and send gun wielding people to the island.

The DI folks on the island in 1977 have run out of his control probably not following 'protocol'.

Hanso, to my mind, is more like a gentleman philantropist. OK a philantropist who made all his money dealing arms but still. I'm sure if we search the ARGs he'll have made some statement about bad use of power and technology and the need to return to better, simpler ways.

Guess one of the themes of LOST has been people don't change so perhaps Hanso has returned to his arms dealing days.

Craig

I would think the new group are members of the new DHARMA Initiative. "What lies in the shadow of the Statue?" is similar to the code prompt used at the Swan station when meeting new members. Plus this past year at Comic-con there was a booth recruiting for the new DHARMA Initiative, plus last year there were commercials for "Global Recruiting", a DHARMA related organization. All fun tie-ins to the show!
I would think DHARMA is going in armed heavily and ready to strike back against whoever wiped out their previous settlement on the island.

waiting for lost

What lies in the shadow of the statue ?

Darkness.

riverfr0zen

@Biolite: Yeah, it certainly would be off, at least in terms of how one thinks conventionally about time and space =) But still a wacky indicator of some sort. Of course, I was only thinking of this in terms of being a sort of 'riddle' or metaphor for a password type thingy.

Some people on another podcast were postulating that the 'real war' here may actually be between Widmore and Elouise (the time lady). This latest batch of people may be of her dispatch.

Since we don't know who Elouise is affiliated with, this could tie in well with a DHARMA/Hanso resurgence, and also mitigate the issue of creating a whole new group of people at this point in the series.

ad jackson

was it just me or was that 90s faraday that got off the sub??? cos he had that long hair that he had when desmond went to see him in "The Constant". dunno how he could be in the 70s but he definately had different hair

is this why present day dan has dissapeared cos he knows that the two cannot meet??

Chris

What lies in the shadow of the statue ?

I see 2 ways to look at this question

1. What can be physically located in the shadow of the statue like a city, temple, device or person. Personally i don't like that idea as shadows move so if that is the case they are probably referring to what is at the base of the statue.
2. This is more of a philosophical question relative to what the statue is. Assuming it is Anubis i would think a good answer would be Death.

I have to say the best answer i saw though was darkness.

I have this strange feeling though it could be scales though. Anubis steady's the scales for those being judged. what if man in general is being judged from a cross section of its people by their actions on the island and their feelings on their actions. Like its not the war that's really important but how you fight the war.

Mark B

@ad jackson
Yes it was modern (2004) Faraday. I figure he left on the sub sometime after the Leftbehinders merged into the DI and went off to help the DI off-island with some project or other, maybe (probably) building or refining the Lamppost station.. Now he has returned to blaze a trail of time travel understanding. He obviously knew Miles.

As for what is in the shadow of the statue I too like both Time and Darkness. Maybe the Darkness of Time ?

Biolite

So I realize that the show is SO riddled with people that have daddy issues: Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Walt, Miles, Claire, Ben....the list goes on. In the end... the whole thing with the island will come down to daddy issues between Anubis and his father, Osiris!

Ha ha, ok, maybe not...but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Biolite

emma

does darlton hate women?? why are all the women on the show annoying or boring? i want to slap kate in every episode. i've come to hate her so much that i hardly felt anything for her even at the end of kate-centric, WHH. ask anyone who their favorite character on the show is -- i would be surprised if even 1 in 20 said it was a female.

Hoth

Hello All...
I feel like I am in the minority innot being very impressed with this season and its "reveals".

So much of what is being exposed with so much tension and drama we figured out long ago.

I will be so annoyed if any new characters are introduced and developed.I only just accepted Daniel,Miles and the redhead.Cant wait to hear the broadcast and btw how can I add my self to your map? The ad is in the way of the active interface....I am listening from Casablanca,Morocco!

A.

Mike in the Box

@ Hoth

I understand the idea that "So much of what is being exposed with so much tension and drama we figured out long ago." The problem is not that the show isn't giving us big reveals; it is giving us confirmation. That is the key. I wouldn't hold my breath for a ton of big reveals. We in the LOST community have been speculating, theorizing, and digging through the web for five seasons. Many of us might be underwhelmed, but the general casual viewer is overwhelmed by reveals like Miles being Chang's son or other things that we might have long assumed. Just be patient, the biggest reveals are coming.

Rok

Ooh! I just realized something that adds to the argument of a third, non-Linus, non-Widmore group, and it came up in this episode! Remember that Miles was originally offered $1.6 million by Widmore, then demanded from the guys in the van double that, at $3.2 million and they threw him out of the truck. Well, remember last season, Miles demands to see Ben and when confronted, demands Ben give him $3.2 million or be turned over to the mercenaries. Citing THAT PARTICULAR NUMBER (which even Ben at the time though was an odd choice, making fun of it and asking "why 3.2? why not some other number) was Miles testing the waters to see if those van kidnappers were Ben's. Now, Ben is good at lying, but it seems as though if Ben had such a confused reaction to the amount demanded, that if they WERE his henchmen who kidnapped Miles, he would have at least not questioned the amount as much as he did.

Kids, we've got a third group at play. I don't know who, but we do.

Hoth

@Mike..Well I am nothing if not patient.I guess my problem is that I watched lost for that sense of mystery. For that... "I wanna run and google that book saywer is reading" kind of stuff. Its funny i remember a similar complaint somewhere in season 4 with wanting to get some answers..my coworker warned me, no word of a lie, to be careful what you wish for...
-sigh-

Overall are the ratings and stuff as high for this season as last?

Mike in the Box

@Rok

I think you might have your timeline off a bit. "Miles testing the waters to see if those van kidnappers were Ben's." When Miles was thrown in the van, he had yet to come to the island. If anything, he would be testing Ben to see if he was part of the kidnappers group, not if they were working for him.

PersonallyLost

Could the smoke monster be the "shadow of the statue?"

atrueskiay

I would like to know what your guys thoughts are on the monster. Has it been confirmed that the monster is really just NANO Technology and that the "Ghosts" that we see are really just the "Monster" taking shape.

Also, Can we now theorize that the monster can go off island, and when Hurly saw Ana Lusia, & Charlie off Island, he was really seeing the monster.

Alex

Hey Guys,

You probably already know this, but since your last podcast (detailing "Namaste"), there have actually been four episodes that have aired: 1) "He's Our You," 2) "Whatever Happened, Happened," 3) "Dead is Dead" and 4) "Some Like It Hoth." You mention that you'll only be covering three episodes on the next podcast and I was hoping that was a typo.

I figure that if I'm lucky, each episode will get 20-30 minutes devoted to it (not enough for my taste, but I guess you guys do have real world lives to lead, right? LOL). Anyway, the only thing that would truly disappoint me is if one episode was completely left out of the podcast.

Thanks for reading the rantings of a Lost fanatic like myself and putting out such quality podcasts. Stay Lost.

Mark B

@atrueskiay

Damon and Carlton have said the smoke monster is not NANObots (like in the Micheal Crichton novel Prey).

Jackeduplockedown

@ Hoth

This season is about confirming and revealing the pieces of the puzzle and allowing us to start putting the pieces together. It's not about the individual reveals it's about putting the sum of the parts together.

Was it Ben or in fact Widmore who ordered the purge?

Does either of them have the Island's best interests in kind?

Is Kelvin somehow connected to that third group that abducted Miles in the Van?

And on and on and on...

ZACH

WHAT LIES IN THE SHADOW OF THE STATUE!?

smokey. aka "the judge"

Rok

Um, Mike, isn't that what I said? That he was checking to see if the van kidnappers were affiliated with Ben. Working for or with, my timeline perspective seems to be fine. Either way, that's what I *meant* to say.

Mike in the Box

@ Rok

How would he know Ben to check if they were affiliated with him? He had not been to the island yet. He had not met Ben.

Jes'

Re: WHAT LIES IN THE SHADOW OF THE STATUE?

Hold in mind that "lies" doesn't necessarily mean "lay." It could mean lie as in "to tell a lie." That may seem odd, but that's how riddles are written sometimes.

connor

i have a theory about Desmond. Being shot on the island doesn't tend to be a problem due to the healing properties, off island could be fatal to him - will Penny send him back to the island to save his life?

Biolite

@connor That would be a very cool way to get Des back on Island. Only issue is how? It's not easy to get back, Widmore spent "twenty years" trying. But I guess Des knows where Mrs. Hawkings and the lampost are so he might be able to get back sooner. Would be cool.

Chris

what is the meaning of "do you know what lies in the shadow of the statue"

love your work guys

chris

Chris in Ohio

@connor

From what i can tell penny should have no real idea of the islands healing abilities as Desmond i believe hasn't seen much evidence of that. Even so i suspect any shot that can be survived for weeks, as i would suspect it would take for Des to get back on the island, can probably be easily taken care of by any doctor or person with a needle and thread.

plus it looks like Desmond was only grazed at worst. but then again when ben was shot i saw the bullet hit almost square in the center of the chest and then the next episode the shot was in his middle right side so go figure.

Jorge Garcia is a guest on the Bonnie Hunt show today. Just sharing.

Ross

I want you to talk about Bram and how he kidnapped Miles and asked him "What lies in the shadow of the statue?"
I know someone else said that...is it a code of some sort that only the people in Bram's "group" know? Cause when Miles says he doesn't know, Bram sort of gets annoyed or frustrated and says never mind (if I remember...).
And who exactly is Bram? Is he working for Ben, since he told Miles not to go on Widmore's boat, or is he a new 3rd force in this Ben Vs. Widmore war.
Bram has been confusing me like crazy. I want to know your thoughts. Thanks.

frankmorris

I found something interesting on Lostpedia:
*Bram* Stoker wrote 'The Jewel of the Seven Stars' a story about an attempt to reanimate an Egyptian mummy.

Mark B

@Ross

Three ideas abound about Bram and Ilana .....
1. Work for Ben but don't know they do. Ben employed then through some shell company.
2. Work for Widmore (now unlikely given the Miles kidnap discussion)
3. Work for third party...likely the Dharma Initiative. Lots about the DI reforming pre-season mainly the Comic Con stuff.

Sea Captain

@ Ross and Mark B
1. Unlikely
2. Highly unlikely if not ruled out.
3. Possible
4. They are members of an ancient religious sect.

Ross

@ Sea Captain
Maybe the ancient religious sect could be the third force. I've noticed some religious or christian themes now (such as Ben being FORGIVEN by Cerebus) and the Egyptian stuff is starting to reveal. Maybe...

Karen

Welcome BACK.. Congradulations.. Muldives is a wonderful place that I never thought of a honey moon.. I was in India a few years ago, work related, never made it there, but heard it was awesome.. anyway..
So many new questions, and the answers we have been given, well they are just not answering very well..
I must say that the responses from our LOSTies now to anyone else about what is going on, is just as vague and annoying as when we first met the French woman and ben.. but now we know the truth behind things, it makes sense the responses we first received. Now why did Ethan go to the darkside?
to turn on your father as Ben did?

Mark B

@Sea Captain
I like the idea that the new Others are part of a religious sect somehow linked to the island. Certainly Bram didn't seem to be threatening Miles ... more like Bram thought he was trying to save him. Maybe they are working with Alpert ?

On another note .... Mrs Hawking. Odd lady. Works with Ben but Widmore knows were she is. Why does she not help Widmore get back to the island ? Have her and Widmore fallen out because he was banished ? Or is it that they were married and now are estranged ? But why is she off the island ? If she won't help Widmore why doesn't Widmore just bust in and "steal" the details of how to get back ? Is Mrs Hawking really Ellie off the island ? If so why has she fallen out with Widmore and why is she working with Ben ? Is she now neutral and would she help anyone get to the island ? Is she really Faradays mother ? Widmore told Des she was but as we know people on LOST tend to lie. Is she his real mother or is Faraday adopted ? Was she the lady in the background when Faraday is crying ?

kevonski

Are you really gonna bother with commenting on the past 3 episodes? You guys used to be current and interesting to listen too. I get it though, people have lives and they do go on... I think you should just focus on the most RECENT episode, if you get around to making your podcast that is.

Again, loved you guys in the beginning, but the delay again and again makes me wonder why you even bother? Starting last season with the later and later podcasts you weren't bringing anything new to the table; rehashing posts weeks old is just that...old.

Enjoy LOST, enjoy your lives, but as far as podcasting goes do us all a favor and just call or write in to the podcasts that show up. (Ya I know you are not paid to do this, but if you are not gonna do it well then just don't do it at all)

Peace!

Justin B.

I have really been impressed with this season. I would like to see John Locke discussed. I found it interesting that Ben told Sun that he has never seen the island resurrect a person before, 'dead is dead.' Locke seems to finally living up to being 'special.' The island certainly thinks so (loved Ben's 'daughter' throwing him around and telling him to follow Locke or else).

Just on a side note...loved Hurley's reworking of the Empire Strikes Back. "The Ewoks suck, dude." Amen...

Did not see this mentioned on previous posts. When Ben shot Locke and he fell in the Darma mass grave pit, he pulled a gun from a body. Was it Sawyer's? Is it possible that the surviors were killed in the Other's attack?

I'm always hoping the clip shows & enhanced episodes let something good slip. Like the name "Tovard Hanso" (in bold text on screen in 4.05e) as the owner of the Black Rock ledger; can't wait to see how that name plays out in future eps. Or Hawking's 1st name, Eloise. Last night did debunk the recent online chatter about Ben's team possibly having staged the plane crash in the Sunda Trench; narrator confirms it was definitely Widmore. Specifically, this clarifies the objective behind one of Ben's agents (probably Tom) killing 'Felix' whom Miles confirmed (post mortem) was taking photos & receipts back to "Widmore." Specifically, those items were never in Ben's control until Tom (?) intercepted Felix in transit. Ben stole these from Widmore, not the other way around. And Felix wasn't stealing anything back from Ben either, since the staged crash originated w/ Widmore. The opposite view would now require too much forced contrivance to be enjoyable.

Regarding the Bullz-Eye interview...& FAUNS:
Connections between LOST & Mr. Tumnus from Narnia? Or to VERTUMNUS from Roman mythology (i.e. PAN from Greek mtyhs)? In Narnia, this faun-goat-dude protects the heroes from his boss, the White Witch [white-haired Hawking?]. Ends up frozen into a statue, later unfrozen by the heroes. Shades of Han Solo in carbonite following Hoth. Ho-oth! Something about this has FARADAY's hirsute goat face written all over it. He's academically sure-footed, on the inside track w/Hawking, but is kind of a crier like Tumnus: cried over news of 815 crash. On the Greek side, Pan is patron god of shepherds & likes helping good guys. He's a shape shifter who gets stuck on a girl easily (like DANIEL), usually w/tragic results: Charlotte & Theresa = Syrinx & Echo & Pitys. Also known for his throw-downs w/big baddy Apollo. Oh, and he talks to trees! That's really great since LOST's trees can whisper right back. As for the pan flute, let's watch for any musical talents dispalyed by Shaggy Dan himself.

Regarding the Bullz-Eye interview...& KEEPING SECRETS ON THE SHOW:
It's already been reported at Dark UFO's spoiler site that false spoilers & tip-offs have been escalating massively lately. The producers admittedly do leak false info to throw off seasoned sleuths, rarely to good effect. But their latest tactic may be a stroke of genius or desperation; bear with me. The paranoia strikes me that they might actually be shooting fake scenes on location in Oahu for credibe & sincere web reporters & bloggers to stumble upon in hopes of contaminating the pool of LOST news reaching spoiler sites. All the better to protect the genuine article & misdirect those who would go well beyond pre-hashing & teasing about upcoming episodes. Also, I'm still tempted to believe Mark Pellegrino actually does end up playing the person that was asked about, based on the tone of CC's reponse. Call it a gut feeling.

Regarding the Bullz-Eye interview...& RICHARD ALPERT & EYELASHES:
I think the best way to reveal the nature of this character and lay to rest all the eyeliner talk is to open Season 6 on a close-up of one of Richard's eyes as he wakes, and then reveal something mind-blowing about him in the first few minutes! It would be a more meaningful and celebratory nod to fans with the promise of even more explosive reveals to come, plus it would be funny. A feast for screen-cappers, possible peace of mind & relief for the actor at seeing the matter settled, and something that would be talked about forever.

Regarding the Bullz-Eye interview...& THE LOVE QUADRANGLE:
Obviously so much of what we see in LOST is meant to inform its end-game, including the love/sex stories. I'm reminded of a movie which frequently ranks in the top 3 movies OF ALL TIME among film critics: The Rules Of The Game. It involves lots of love rhombus action among high society types behaving badly, plus parallel mischief among minor characters. Very reminiscent of our main LOST boys & girls. The final scene involves a revenge plot that becomes a tragic case of mistaken identity, recalling how Sawyer killed Frank Duckett, but serving as a climax to all the romantic trysts. Along the way, a haughty hunting party slaughters much game in a scene with a close-up of an innocent rabbit folding its forelegs before expiring. There's also a marginalized musical & technical genius who sees tragedy on the horizon, but fails to stop the incident.

Earlier in the week I saw a comment on here from "Biolite" that all the Daddy issues may relate to god-like Egyptian father/son rivals reincarnated on the island, continuing an ancient feud by proxy using present-day Losties as pawns (I'm paraphrasing). Anubis & Osiris(?). Hoping someone can flesh out the Egyptian mythology on this. Let's take this further. What's in Bram's metal box anyway? A mummy? Interestingly the name Bram brings to mind Bram Stoker who, besides the vampire stuff, wrote the Jewel Of Seven Stars. This is a horror story about attempts to revive an ancient Egyptian queen, also made into a movie with Stephanie Zimbalist (think "The Mummy" sans Brendan Fraser's comic relief). Also, Lostpedia's article on 'The Shadow Of The Statue' refers to some pretty intriguing poetry to do with Ozymandias/Pharaoh Ramesses II.
If all this truly relates to LOST, then maybe all the game pieces are being reset once again for a final stand-off between impressive rivals. Reminds me of TABIYA in chess, where 2 players start off with the same moves so often that, whenever new rounds are played, they just reset the board in the same opening positions & go from there. Was Locke alone in that Ajira Airways cargo hold? If not, then dude, I WOULDN'T WANT TABIYA!

These appear to support Bram & Ilana working for a reconstituted D.I. still funded by Hanso or his foundation. This group is able to locate the island via the Lamp Post & they send regular supply drops to the island, unaware of the Swan's fate. Their riddle about the shadow of the statue is like the technique used by Kelvin & Desmond to verify the credntials of new Swan hatch crewmen. For their purposes, Widmore's is the main opposing force. Though this "3rd group" is unaware of Ben's rivalry with Widmore, Ben & Charles are now effectively competing to represent the island's interests against Bram & company. Widmore has used his resources off island to detect the new group's plot, while Ben has relied on Jacob & the island to reveal new threats along with general instructions on how to proceed. With Locke now supplanting Ben, Bram's people will gain a 4-toed foothold on the island before Locke & Ben & the O6 can chart their best reponse. Whatever the Incident was, it brought a new awareness of the supernatural forces of the island (beyond electromagnetic anomalies) to this remnant of DI folk just before they were driven off the island. Hawking possibly became a sort of double-agent from that moment on, appearing to assist both groups while working on her own time-cop agenda. Bram's group has now carefully orchestrated a return, hell-bent on exploiting these forces or even serving their interests. The stakes must be huge, and somehow either The Temple or the Frozen Wheel or both are involved since these have featured fairly prominently this season.

Waxman

DocWaxman

I think we may have already seen what's in the shadow of the statue: it's the Well that leads to the Frozen Wheel. Picture the intact statue casting an enormous shadow at a prescribed time of day with the Well directly behind it or nearby, as viewed from the shore. Some feature of the statue (Anubis' head, etc) would seem to mark the entrance to the ancient cavern for those who knew what to look for. This may be what Bram's group is now trying to locate. How did they acquire this clue? Who knows? Maybe following The Incident? For that matter, something must have inspired Radzinski's special knowledge of Cerberus Vents, Magnus Hanso, etc? And why would the Swan's builders incorporate hieroglyphs in the countdown clock? The island's mythology somehow gained sudden importance among D.I. folks at some critical moment; maybe the same moment when the Statue's shadow was revealed as a vital clue to gaining special powers.

I know this might seem random and not connected to the current episodes, but I found this on Lostpedia:
http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Whisper_transcripts

It's something to do with the audio recordings of the whispers that people are hearing. I forgot how, but someone on a blog decoded what the whispers say.

What I found the most interesting is the part where Hurley is at Jacob's cabin. It talks about Christian talking to Sarah (Jack's ex-wife!). And a man going to a woman because she's an alchemist! Then the woman mentions Richard?

Can you guys read that link and explain on the podcast what you think about that one? I have my own theories about RICHARD GOING TO A WOMAN IN JACOB'S CABIN TO GET A POTION OF SOME SORT THAT MAKES HIM NEVER AGE. But that's what I got out of it...please elaborate. Thanks.

Good catch about the Dharma logos!
That adds more weight to the Hanso lead Dharma resurgence theory. I like the ancient religious sect angle too. Maybe the two are not mutually exclusive.
Good guess about the well being in the shadow of the statue, but my guess is that the answer is metephorical.
What I really want to know is, what's in the box?

Sea Captain

The correct spelling is "metaphorical".

Thank goodness you guys are back!
