You always seem to miss the best episodes..
But ah well life happens.

I really enjoyed last weeks podcast. Though you guys don't have the work ethic of some of the other podcasts, you're still the best. Word up.
Posted by: LostinTexas | May 02, 2009 at 12:10 AM
What happened to you guys? I still love all the podcasts you make and appreciate all the work you put into them, but you rarely even podcast anymore it seems.
..i mean, you're not supposed to take "stay lost" literally.

gee, do you guys even care any more?

I'm confused as to how Hurley and Miles witness the building of the Hatch and see the "Serial Number" being stamped on the door and then this week Daniel says the hatch is built to cover the Electro-magnetic leek which occurs as a result of drilling at the orchid. How can this be they are already building it ???

Wow, very cool podcast! I'm only a recent convert - this season - but wish I'd been with you since the beginning. When it's all over (post season 6), I think I'll re-watch it all and then go back to work it all through with your podcasts from episode 101! Keep up the good work. Congrats on getting married! Maldives, very nice!

I used to listen religiously to you guys, but it seems like y'all have really lost interest in doing this...shame really.

It's good to have the guys around to bounce theories off of, but it's not the high point of my week. Whatever you guys have to do, do it. Some of you got families to take care of, and have active social lives (unlike some of the people in this forum - LOL). See y'all when you get back.
STAY LOST, but not literally :)

Next year, either do at least 75% of the episodes or don't do any. Lostcasts has become the ex-girlfriend that you're still into who has too many cocktails every couple months and throws you the occasional booty call but really wants nothing to do with you.

What a joke, Cliff Ravenscraft was mentioned earlier. He may be a fat god bothering geek.At least he stays true to his word and puts out a fucking podcast everyweek.Pathetic effort guys...Really pathetic.
Posted by: D | May 04, 2009 at 06:58 AM
Takes a lot of effort to come in here, rattle off an insulting "why aren't you giving me more for free" comment then head for the hills, doesn't it? Way more than organizing the spare time of friends to sit in front of a microphone, hopefully with some prepapartion in tow, record, edit if necessary and post. You folks have such a hard time with it, why don't you get together with a couple of your freinds and post a competing podcast and show 'em who's boss! Oh, wait, that's be, like, difficult.
Keep up the great work, guys.
P.S. Has anyone discussed the elephant-in-the-room that still bugs me? Why do Daniel and his mom AND his dad all have different surnames? I know they couldn't just call him "Daniel Hawking" or "Daniel Widmore" from the get-go without spoiling the eventual connection, but still... Bugs me.
P.P.S. Another point that people have forgotten: how is it that Eloise Hawking was able to appear to Desmond when he backtracked in time after turning the hatch failsafe key? She's just walking around now, normal as can be, albeit with a creepy Dharma hatch under her, um, church?

On a side note, has anyone ever typed 4 8 15 16 23 42 in to google maps? Check it out everyone, pretty specific location...

And how much of a tool is that steve who came on here with the facetious quiz. Come on here and podcast yourself.
Posted by: Rob | May 04, 2009 at 12:49 PM
The Numbers
I really believe that the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42 directly represent specific people meaning the losties.
Think about what we have been told. You can change any of the variables other than the human ones i.e. you can't change the people involved that make the equation.
Plus If you change a number you can change the end of the world. Then Dan says he forgot about the variables i.e. them and their ability to choose.
If you put that together the you get that the numbers directly represent the choices made by certain people. To save the world you only have to change one of the numbers, meaning you only have to get 1 of them to make a choice that they would not have made.
The whole thing is a setup
as for which number represents who. i would assume miles will die like the other freighter folk. Juliet will probably go away as well. by my count that makes 10 possibilities: Desmond, Locke, Clare, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Sun, Jin, Sayid and Hurley.
Though i think Desmond is very important i don't think he is part of the formula as he doesn't have to follow the rules.
I am also guessing Locke isn't in their as he seems to become part of the system referring to how he just knows stuff and seems destined to lead. I know that is a weak bit of logic but it's all i got.
I'm also not counting Clare as she has been taken out of the game and i have to assume she is now in the know and also part of the system.
Though Sun appears to have a roll to play. The fact she is in the present makes me suspect she can't change anything that was going to be so she probably isn't one of the numbers.
that leaves 6 Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Jin, Sayid and Hurley. for 6 numbers. However i have no clue which one of them is represented by which number or how the numbers relate to them. I know jack was in seat 23 on flight 815.

sad. build an audience up. give them great content. become complacent in thinking that they will wait for your schedule. This is the inkernet baby i've already moved on!
Posted by: Sad listener | May 05, 2009 at 01:55 PM
To those of you who say these guys aren't rippable for their lack of consistency, you're wrong.
Why don't we get our own friends together for a podcast? We don't claim to run a website called "Lostcasts.com" or that we read the forums so you don't have to.
People aren't ripping them because they don't like them, that's why people are here. To hear their insights. But as "Sad Listener" says, you can't build up your audience and have us recommending this site to other people if it's not going to do what is expected of it (especially while having a link for advertising inquiries).
So let's hope these guys get their act together and do what we all want them to do.
Posted by: Sad Listener #2 | May 05, 2009 at 04:02 PM
Don't hate!
Yes there are other podcasts, but the beauty is that you can listen to as many as you want at any time! I think they compliment each other - The Transmission is always a great listen, of course the Official Lost Podcast is good too.
Could be worse guys, Jay and Jack could be the only podcast around! (They are just awful, can't even string a sentence together between them!)
Can't wait for the next episode guys!
Posted by: Connor | May 05, 2009 at 05:43 PM
I know this is too easy, but 'inkernet baby'? Very nice.
I imagine most complainers here have never tried to put out a regular podcast themselves.
Posted by: Lucidlife | May 05, 2009 at 06:57 PM
What a fucking joke. I have told (and emailed) friends and family about this website only for them to "tune in" and get nothing. Get a meat hook up your arse you guys.
Posted by: Angry | May 06, 2009 at 02:23 AM
Figure people will only complain about lack or a good podcast. If Lostcasts was, without naming names, one of the "lesser" podcasts there would be no complaints.
So which would the naysayers prefer ?
A. Lostcasts when the guys have time to do a proper podcast.
B. No Lostcasts because they quit because of the negative comments.
C. A sub-standard cast every week as the guys rush to fit one in.
D. To do their own.
Posted by: mark b | May 06, 2009 at 06:42 AM
Sorry that should be "lack of a good podcast" obviously.
Posted by: mark b | May 06, 2009 at 06:44 AM
@ Chris in Ohio
The Sri Lanka video (from TLE - it might be canon & it might not be...) states that the numbers represent both human & environmental factors. Could your two missing numbers represent dark & light or good & bad/evil? Just a thought.

Why aren't we getting a 2 hour finale next week? Every other season has ended with a finale that long. What the hell? Now all we get is the 3rd recap show of the season instead of an extra hour of real show. Based on the name of the next episode I think they could make it a 2 hour show.
Posted by: Chad | May 06, 2009 at 11:18 PM
@Chad
It is a two hour finale. The clip show is a "bonus".

Seriosuly though, if all you want is a regular cast then may I suggest one of those "lesser" podcasts that churn out recap shows.
Like MacCutcheon, Lostcasts is worth waiting for.
Posted by: waiting for lost | May 07, 2009 at 07:03 AM
I stand by the Guys and their podcasts. If they have one available - cool, if not: it won't ruin my week. As long as the show is consistent, I'm good to go.
Those who are whining about it - put together your own podcast, and do it weekly, and try to stay consistent - all while maintaining a social life, or having a wife, or children. I challenge anyone to come out with a better alternative. If you are better than lostcasts, then you have my word: I will become a devout fan and will recommend you to others. Otherwise, STFU x10.

I just watched "Follow the leader" (if anyone hasn't seen th episode yet, stop reading now). That last scene was quite unexpected. Kill Jacob? Is dead-Locke evil? or is it Jacob? After a while, I thought of this. Here goes my theory: When John first saw Jacob in the cabin, he appeared to be captive, and asked John to "help him". For what we've seen from this episode, it appears as if different leaders through time (and possibly Richard to some extent) have been using Jacob as an excuse to rule over the Island by keeping him captive and hidden from the rest of the Island inhabitants. I looks to me as if Locke wants to put an end to this by killing/liberating Jacob, while exposing the situation. Any thoughts?
Posted by: Irene | May 07, 2009 at 02:26 PM
If John Locke is really going to kill Jacob and not just messing with Ben, then it seems that he is ending Jacobe to free him - possibly because Locke is Jacob. That is why he was able to come back to life, and the temporarily unstuck in time/dying experience let him put the pieces together.
It may be that John Locke is just the Smoke Monster given form. So he wants to absorb Jacob and take control of the island.
Best part of last night - Sayid pulled off a military ambush! His first real success in the series!

PS. Kudos to this site for putting out a great podcast for free, it is actually fun to listen to.
Stuff it, to whiners who are pouting since they aren't getting all the free stuff they want. All your justifications for your whining are just pathetic.
You'll get a podcast when they feel like making a podcast, and you'll like it!

The title of the episode has two implications: Locke is the new leader of the Others and Ben has pledged to Alex (as the smoke monster) that he will follow Locke. The other implication of the title is Daniel started on a path to change the future and now Jack is following his lead.
It does not sit well with me that in the previous episode, Eloise Hawking appears convinced that destiny will fulfill itself and that the future is predetermined. However, in this episode, her younger self appears eager to try to change the future. This presents a character conflict and will hopefully be resolved. I predict that the bomb will not be able to be detonated. This causes destiny to course correct and thus fulfill itself.
The big reveal of the episode is Locke’s plan. Locke has an obvious issue with the way that Jacob has been used as a way to manipulate the Others. He decides to take the whole group of Others to “see” Jacob. Then he reveals to Ben that he plans to kill Jacob. My thought is that he plans to reveal that Jacob is a myth and has been a tool for manipulation of the group. He plans to “kill” Jacob by revealing that he does not exist.
The other striking character issue I am concerned about is Kate. Seemingly out of nowhere, Kate becomes concerned about moral issues of right and wrong? I don’t think so. Kate is not concerned about morality so much as she is concerned about her survival. Here’s her concern: if they detonate the bomb and eliminate the electromagnetic force on the island, Oceanic 815 will not crash on the island, but instead will land safely in Los Angeles, where she will be taken into custody for the murder of her father and for her fleeing the country. She is only really concerned about the possibility that she will go to prison.
Question
- How did the Others move the bomb from the field in 1954 to the tunnels in 1977? They certainly didn’t swim it under the river. There must be another entrance.
Posted by: Mike in the Box | May 07, 2009 at 09:26 PM
@ Mike in the Box
Just because Locke says he is going to kill Jacob doesn't mean it is for any bad reason. Keep in mind Locke had to die to become what he is. Plus Christian with orders from Jacob lead him to this fate. If that is the case then Jacob wants this to occur.
The Lost folk have stated no paradoxes or alternate time lines. So the bomb isn't going off. What has happened will happen. If something is going to change its going to be in the present / future and be because of Desmond. The bomb is most likely going to become the fail safe that Desmond turns the key to.
The part that frustrates me is they say their following Dan's plan, but nobody seems to be looking in the book to see what they need to do.
Posted by: Chris in Ohio | May 08, 2009 at 09:20 AM
I think the issue with consistency with Eloise Hawkins is that young Eloise is riddled with guilt for killing her possible kid tries to change the future.
My guess, then when they fail Eloise becomes fatalistic and believes you cannot change the past.
(The theory that the bomb is the failsafe that Desmond activates with the key is a pretty awesome possibility.)
So the character development may make sense, depending upon how the season ends, but does not since we are seeing two snap shots without the interconnecting time.
But I think you cannot change major timeline events, but you may be able to extend a life or save a person for a time. As we saw with Charlie, he was going to die (aren't we all) but Desmond was able to modify the final date of collapse.

Dudes.
Great podcast, shame about there being a few missing this season, but I'll take what I can get since it's free and all.
Read this on Twitter and thought it was an interesting idea.
4 + 8 + 15 + 16 + 23 + 42 = 108
4 8 23 42 are the constants
15 16 are the variables
You could change 15 and 16 to 14 and 17 and they'd still add up to 108:
4 + 8 + 14 + 17 + 23 + 42 = 108
And if you add up the constants you get 77:
4 + 8 + 23 + 42 = 77
They're in 1977 and 77 was the code Locke entered into the computer in Enter 77.
Just food for thought.

RE: The Bomb.
Based on what we've seen I'm pretty sure that Daniel's plan will change nothing. Instead, I could see the bomb detonation being a crucial part in establishing the time line as we know it. Maybe the bomb was always meant to go off and Daniel was playing the part he was always meant to play without even knowing it. It would explain why Eloise Hawking was so set on getting Daniel AND Jack back to the island.
I LOVED the "off to kill Jacob" line. I will be sad if it turns out that Locke is being played AGAIN. I like the new awesome zombie Locke, I hope he finally has the purpose he's been looking for since he was a kid.
@Burns Don't forget the code to the sonic fence in "The Variable" was 414717 :)
As for the podcast itself... At this point, I wouldn't mind if all the people complaining about the podcast actually STOPPED listening so I wouldn't have to read the same whiny shit over and over again. I'm still going to listen to the podcast, so are a lot of people. If you don't like that go setup your own website and complain about it there.

Hi!
I haven't been listening to your podcasts in a while but I did listen the newest one, the theory podcast.
I'm not sure if you have talket about this in the previous podcasts but what do you think abot the LOST producers talk about twins and their importance and the connection with Fringe? I have a feeling that there are more twins in Fringe then in the 19th episode, I just can't name the episodes.
Also: the Massive Dynamic is all that I've thought Hanso Foundation was when I read the Bad Twin. Any opinions that?
I know that this isn't a Fringe podcast, but I will be disappointed if you don't talk about this in the next podcast (except if you've talked about it before).
Stay lost!
Posted by: Kane | May 09, 2009 at 05:24 PM
@Kane
I wouldn't expect ANY Fringe discussion, mostly because Fringe started this year, Lost is one year away from being finished. Any connections would be Fringe mimicking Lost, so you would need to find a Fringe podcast for that. Also, I know these guys (podcasters) don't watch Fringe.
