Once they got back to the beach, I immediately thought about the canoe chase from last season. Is Jack, Hurley, etc, the group in the second canoe who were chasing/shooting at Sawyer, Locke, etc, in the first canoe? Is it because Richard or Ilana realize that if they stop the sawyer group from flashing through time, the loop hole will be closed. And, if it was them, which one of the beach crew gets shot by Juliet? Hurley better ditch that red shirt soon; I would hate to see him take one for the team.

I had the same thought exactly. Who is going to be shot in the canoe ? My money is on Miles.

I will have to rewatch it but I didn't notice the outriggers on the beach. It is possible that they return to get them and bring them back but Flocke and his crew are now on hydra island. It's possible that they row around to the beach to raid team Jack/Richard and are off pursuing them in the jungle and return to find one of the outriggers missing. Then who would the vote go to for Juliets shot to hit?

It's Locke's group that is going off island, I'm thinking it will be Sawyer and Kate in the boat and one of them will get hit, probably Sawyer. This will force Kate to bring Sawyer to Jack for medical help.

Wasn't Juliet in that canoe? Perhaps the reason they are chasing the canoe is Sawyer is trying to keep Juliet from moving in time.

Never would have thought of the canoe scene. Very interesting. I like the thinking behind it.

So this episode was about a notch above What Kate Does. The only thing that saved it was the fact that Josh Holloway can actually act.

Season 6 continues to underwhelm me. I'm trying to be patient but there's not a lot of episodes left. As much as I like Josh Holloway and his character this episode fell flat. What was the point of having Charlotte return? I like the character (and actress) but it seemed too self indulgent on the part of the production to just bring back someone for the sake of bringing them back...her inclusion brought nothing to the storyline (and I thought it was especially cheap for Sawyer to bring her Juliet's yellow flower). We got some good moments but overall this episode didn't stand up to Lost's standard set by the previous 5 seasons.

Recon and What Kate Does are perfect examples of why this show is going to end poorly. Really, Sawyer? You and Kate are going to steal a submarine and pilot it all on your own? Really?
The writers had a perfect opportunity to draw a link between the real and fake worlds by using Juliet instead of Charlotte as Sawyer's date. Turns out it was a complete waste of time.

A trick called "gunwale bobbing" or "gunwaling" allows a canoe to be propelled without a paddle. The canoeist stands on the gunwales, near the bow or the stern, and squats up and down to make the canoe rock backward and forward.
